Yeah, ditto. Itā€™s a complete semi-modular synth in the most compact yet supremely ergonomic and intuitive UI possible. Youā€™ve absolutely got to try it. Not only is the sound top notch, it is one of the more usable pieces of software Iā€™ve had the pleasure to use, ever. Iā€™m a UX designer by day, so Iā€™m picky.

Give Kaivo and Virta a try too, theyā€™re quite unique.

Ableton Live will map your MIDI controllerā€™s knobs to Aaltoā€™s parameters very easily using the ā€˜configureā€™ menu. I plan to add MIDI mapping within Aalto, but thatā€™s mainly for people who have hosts that arenā€™t as good at it. Liveā€™s implementation works very well.

As far as percussion, thereā€™s a folder of patches called ā€œAalto percussionā€ that comes with the plugin.

I was dealing with some website issues and having to make licenses manually so I did a kind of ā€œsoft openā€ today. Everything should be working now. Iā€™ll publicize the releases and sale more over the coming few days.

used the sale to finally buy a copy of virta! :blush:

sometimes i feel guilty for not making more music with the madrona suite but it has nothing to do with the tools themselvesā€¦iā€™ve never regretted supporting such well made instruments

i know their power/potential is available whenever i need them

Took the plunge earlier this week on completing my Madrona collection with Kaivo + Aalto. (Iā€™ve had Virta for a while.) Iā€™m blown away by how rewarding it is to dig into the three manuals and instruments side by side. For me learning all of them magnifies all the instrument design decisions that make each of them unique and inspiring canvases. Completing my Madrona collection has been catnip for my musical imagination.
