Has anyone with the noise issues had any luck solving them? Has Make Noise technical support provided any solutions? I’d really like to figure out what’s going on with mine - when the mix is fully dry the amount of hiss is incredibly noticeable, especially compared with my Magneto, which is racked next to it in the same (Intellijel 7U) case and is dead quiet. I’ve tried different input sources, changing the input gain on Mimeophon, and nothing seems to solve it. The noise is also quite present even if I have nothing plugged into the input on Mimeophon and I’m just monitoring the outputs with the mix set to dry. Also to note - I’ve tried this in all of my 4 different eurorack cases and had the same issue.

Yes, I also experience this. Not sure what to do about it as I have gone through the same troubleshooting. I haven’t dealt with it yet because I haven’t had time to contact make noise.

@sunbeamer @Whatwetalkabout I went back forth a lot with my dealer and Make Noise Support - we A/B’d the Mimeo in a few different racks, to rule out power supply/interference issues; I also tested a few different Mimeophon units, and although they all had noise, I do think it’s possible some had more noise than others.

I have heard rumors that Make Noise is working on a firmware fix to address the issue, but if it’s a circuit-layout/bleed issue, then I don’t think it’ll be fixable without a hardware revision.

If I wanted to work around the problem, I would run the Mimeo fully wet, and put a send/return mixer like XOH in front of it - with that kind of signal flow you would have almost no problems; but in the end, I did end up returning the module - I absolutely love the design and sound of the effect, but I am just too OCD about noise.

My Mimeophon arrived yesterday and I haven’t been able to try it yet…

Curious why you refer to XOH as a send-return module? I don’t see that capability in it… but I could be missing something obvious

Nevermind , please delete

Not missing anything. Can’t use XOH as send/return module. Maybe @germinal meant Rosie?

Thanks. Rosie would make sense although the send is mono only… Something with stereo send/return functions would be great…

I can highly recommend Ferry. However, the send and return signals are meant to be line level.

I’ve got my eye on Ferry as well as Hyrlo…

I just got a new MN skiff to offload controller modules from my Shared System to, so I will have some free was space in the SS case…

My thought was to run a stereo pair dry into one channel, and the 100% wet out of mimeo into the other, and mix them in the XOH, but agreed that it’s not a traditional send/return workflow

Ah, I get it. Not a true send/return but a mix of dry and treated… nice workaround!

thought i’d share some issues that i’ve been noticing. when fully dry the hiss that ppl have been talking about is present, yet when fully wet the hiss goes away. as i blend in color cw from 12 o’clock that exact same hiss is reintroduced… @walker is this something that can be solved in a firmware update?
thank you

That would be very interesting to know. I’m also thinking about getting a Mimeophon, but after hearing so much about the noise issues, I’m not sure if I should buy the module and hope for a future firmware update or better wait for a possible harware revision…

FWIW, Both myself and guy I play with have the Mimeophone and run it last in the chain, and have no issues with hiss at all. When it’s fully dry it’s completely silent for me. Have you tried adjusting the gain settings of the delay? Maybe it adjusts the analog section and it’s noise floor as well, just a thought?

did you drop yours to -3db? i have yet to try adjusting the gain settings and will try that out today. i’ll report back if anything changes.

Yes, mine is at -3db.

Hi all… I’ve had my mimeophon for a few months now and love it, but I’m now also noticing these noise issues. I mostly have been running it on a send/return from/to my Befaco Hexmix, so always fully wet, but today I was going straight through it and playing with the mix on some quite pure and quiet tones, and its very noticeable when less than fully wet. I’m noticing a general noise floor (though low), but as the sound increases the noise increases with it… kind of a choppy/gated behaviour that sounds digital. I’ve looked through the MW forums as well and can’t see any fixes for this…

I’m thinking about getting a mimeophon, but I’m concerned about the noise issues mentioned. Has there been any progress on this from make noise? Or have any fixes been identified?

I have one, and know two more people with them and they have no issues with noise. I’d just grab one from somewhere that has a good return policy if you are concerned.

I have one as well, never noticed any noise, but TBH I never went looking for it either.
