My best guess is around 2,300 assuming a price around 499 for Mimeophon. That’s adding up the prices for each module and case and subtracting 5 percent of total cost which it seems like they do for their systems.

Halo smears out the sound. Got a few minutes of recording direct from the modular as Walker demo’d it to me. It may be next week before I can upload.

that’s just cruel :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hmm, I may be able to record it into Norns tape and then share earlier???

This actually sounds alot more interesting and unique than i thought!
The interplay between the 3 main controls will lead to a huge range of sounds and textures…

I’ve not bought any new modules in a few years now, as most new modules have just been repeats (pun intended) of the same old ideas. There was really nothing that would actually replace and improve on what i had in my system, with the exception of maybe Mannequins 3S.
The Mimeophon (MEME-OH-FONE) would be one module I would actually put in my system, it wouldnt replace the echopon for me though, just add.

Saying all that, im not arsed with the stereo hype train, I believe you have more possibilities with mono/dual mono lines than stereo. That’s just me though… most of the stereo field effects are just too extreme to be useful. Im coming from a studio/mix point of view too, i understand this would be more orientated for live work.

anyone know what the max zone (or buffer) length is?

@DivKid’s video was the first one to not just label this as a “stereo delay,” instead acknowledging the amalgamation of various aspects of past soundhack modules into what we now have in the Mimeophon. Bits of Echophon, Erbe-Verb, Morphagene, and Telharmonic can all be found in both the form and functionality of this module.

My thoughts exactly!

Curious if a version of this could be made with the ER301… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

A crude approximation, sure, but getting it right would be tough.

Has anyone implemented Erbeverb on ER-301?

The algorithm is laid out pretty clearly here:

These might also be helpful. I think one of them in particular matches the algorithm he lays out in the white paper.

Depending on what counts as success, I actually doubt something similar to the Mimeophon would be difficult to put together—hidden in this thread is basically a block diagram of the pieces you’d want to put together. Whether the sound or interaction would match is definitely an altogether different question :joy:

I made a crude spring-sounding reverb that can get an infinite sustain on the ER-301 with a 3 tap delay line feeding back on itself but nowhere near this level (lacks the all pass filters and more involved feedback matrix). Thanks for the white paper and max patches. I might give this a shot!

One issue is that this already takes up ~30% of ER-301 resources! I’m sure a more involved reverb/delay preset would push the limits on the CPU.

Edit: As I suspected, with 4 delay lines with LPF, allpass etc. it becomes too much for the ER-301 to handle. I have however managed to create something with only 2 channels (~50% cpu utilization). More info here: https://forum.orthogonaldevices.com/t/erb301-verb-lite/3152

I don’t actually have an erbe verb so someone please tell me if this sounds at all alike.

I started once to try to implement an FDN in the ER-301, and got distracted by cool feedback loop drones

Extreme stereo width is even harder to deal with in live settings than studio if you ask me! But I do agree that most stereo effects in euro aren’t really built with subtle use in mind. I have stereo in/out in my case but I usually run everything in mono anyway.

Here’s that recording I mentioned; a patch by Walker used at the Make Noise stand at Superbooth. The dry signal can be heard about 40s into the recording.

Thank you  Really nice module !

color is a bit more complex than HP/LP… i’ll say more after release - but also, some of the specs and voicing may change by then. i believe longest delay is 42 seconds at this point.

Has it been stated what the input (output?) on the low left side does? (The one with the square-squiggly arrow) Gate out?

I would assume it’s a gate output set by the current delay rate
