just wanna say that even though I don’t own the module itself, I’ve adopted “wogglebug” as an apt nickname for my very wiggly and seven week-old child. Serves the purpose quite well.

I’ve been using a 16n Faderbank with my Mimeophon. Most of the CV inputs on the Mimeophon are 0 - 5v but my faders never reach the full range of the knobs. The faders output 0 - 5v on the 16n but I need to use some scaling in every instance. I have no scope but also tried with a Flame Joyrec which outputs -5 to +5v and the same thing happens.

I’m confused, would appreciate any insight here?

There is a significant reduction in the noise floor. I’d say it’s now a non-issue, for those like me who had noise issues.

Thank you! I bought some 20mm matte black PVC angle moulding with adhesive strips that I thought would look nice on the sides. Then I figured out a way to build the base and stick the angle moulding underneath so it would sit flush with the panel. I might redo the angle mounting pieces at some point with better tools and more patience, it’s a bit messy in some spots. Rene (just like Pressure Points) only requires +12V so I desoldered the power header and wired up a barrel plug connector. The PSU is a standard 12V PSU, I got one with proper ground and the touch plates seem to respond well.

Agreed! Mimeophon’s back in my live setup and with last weeks two gigs I was finally able to play without hearing the noise over the PA! Bliss!

So I saw the spectraphon at superbooth, and talked to Walker a little bit about it. Apparently by doing the FM interally they’re able to perform these operations at a high resolution than if it was done via patching. And indeed the FM sounds that he demoed were really nice!

He also shared some interesting stuff about the SAO mode works. You have an array of 1024 spectrums - which has some defaults, but which you can record over. When you record the spectra, it’s usually done in like a second - but if you patch a clock it will record one on every clock pulse. I’m interested to here how it sounds if you have wildly different inputs for every step.

Seems like a really cool module. Love how big it is.

Yes me too, it’s a perfect instrument to perform with. And the fact that it’s an “open” instrument is very exciting to me. What I mean with “open” is that you can change the way it sounds radically according to the input audio. SO it’s an instrument that will react with any given sound in a particular and interesting way. What an inspired machine!

A nice no-talking Spectraphon demo:

I think I get how it works now:

the resynthesis is done not with brute force sines (like Odessa) but Chebyshev polynomials (like Touche). This means it only includes harmonics, not inharmonic partials.
therefore, the analysis doesn’t need to be FFT, but a 296-like set of bandpass filters and envelope followers, set to harmonic ratios of the Slide parameter. So, minimal latency.
the FM is most likely done as phase modulation of the sines that drive the waveshaping (which is how the fundamental output remains un-FM’d).

You can probably still get clangorous tones out of it because, even though the partials are all integer multiples of the fundamental, they’re not integer multiples of each other.

I wonder if the fundamental appears on the odd and even outputs like it does with Odessa? If so, hopefully it doesn’t have the same kind of automatic gain control that makes it difficult to cancel the fundamental through mixing outputs.

Wow really impressed with how plucky and–forgive me–“organic” this demo sounds particularly in the first few moments. I assume this is from the LPG-like effect that comes from modulating the Partials control? Also a good demonstration of the timbral territory you can traverse just in SAO mode.
