I could buy the component modules individually, but that would likely be more expensive, it would certainly take more time, and it would lack the… “completeness”, I guess.
As a system, it appeals on a couple of levels; it’s a not-so-small object of desire (I mocked it up in modular grid, and it’s a thing of beauty!), and it’s a self contained instrument that was designed and put together by the same people according to a set of principles, and with a particular goal in mind.
And a finished system would be a new experience, a different tack. All of my current Eurorack stuff has been bought piecemeal and is part of a thing that’s constantly evolving. Buying a finished system, all at once, would be a new thing that I’m curious about. I’ll never be planning the next module I’ll be putting in the case and wondering what module I’ll need to ditch to make room for it, and I’ll never need to worry about whether I’m going to be over-taxing the power supply.
I’m intrigued by what might happen if I let someone else make the decisions.
