Always wanted to share that mine QPAS can self oscillate with some feedback.
Right smile to left in, monitor left band pass, Q>12:00 and both radiate controls should be FCCW.

In regards to the grounding issue mentioned above with Pressure Points… I was experiencing all sorts of weird stuff before too, however I tried grounding my power supply to the ground prong of the three prong AC plug and this pretty much solved everything. I just have a Tip Top uZeus and I have my case setup with AC female jack mounted to my case, as well as the power supply mounted in my case as well. I just soldered wire from ground of that jack to the ground on the uZeus. What happens is that even a power supply that has a 3 prong AC cable on it doesn’t always supply ground through the regular connection. Any touch plates are highly responsive to what ground is going to be and if your system isn’t grounded it appears you become the ground when you touch the plates and that causes all sorts of weird issues.

Can you take a picture of the grounding setup in the case?

Hi all,
Now that some time has passed what is your opinion on 0-ctrl especially as a keyboard? I came to conclusion that I am mostly productive when playing things “hand on”, and small form factor and the fact that I could create my own set of pitches without quantization is very tempting for me. Having only 8 pitches might be kind of constraining but I guess this could be solved by adding some offset dynamically. I already have a keyboard controller which can output CV but I am going through “I don’t need keyboard mum - I will create my own scales” phase and would like to experiment with alternate tuning, beat frequencies etc and it looks like 0-ctrl would do the job. Doboz has some eurorack modules which would be ideal for me if not for the fact that they can only output quantized pitches.

I own a Doboz TSNM (3u) which I had to calibrate recently. This procedure offers the opportunity to freely tune each of the touch plates. I intend to tune it to microtonal or Eastern scale for a future session this way. Procedure is here in the manual:

I use it in conjunction with a Make Noise Pressure Points and a MI Ears. This together with a mult makes one hell of a touch controller of my 4MS pod 60 skiff.

I use it as a keyboard and also to sequence little melodies. I’m not a piano player so I love using it in weird, keyboard-ish ways. I end up using 99% more than the keystep 37.

thanks! I actually had an borrowed TSNM for a while and I don’t know how I could have missed the calibration option :man_facepalming: Still it is not ideal as this would require menu entry, but a viable and cheaper alternative (at least in my use case) nonetheless.
After writing my post it occurred to me that given the only one pitch CV output it might be hard to play with beat frequencies but I guess this again could be solved by sending 0-ctrl output to shift register and then send those register outputs to oscillators.

I think part of the reason modular is great is that people can do exactly what they want - their racks and methodologies are completely customizable!

As such, I try not to crap on anyone’s preferences and try to stay out of any arguments regarding brands, styles, etc.

Having said that, I feel like I need to share that chunky peanut butter is gross and everyone that likes it is a terrible person. Smooth peanut butter gang for life.

I like 0-Ctrl as a keyboard quite a bit.

For fast playing it maybe isn’t as well suited as the Microfreak’s touch keyboard, because you have to release one not before another one will register. But I find it very expressive and love tuning the individual notes.

And taking advantage of it as a hybrid controller/sequencer is fun – use the clock/envelope as an LFO controlled by pressure, have it trill on release by patching the clock output to Dir input, or automatically play upward or downward runs on release by patching either gate 1 or gate 8 to Stop.

I accidentally bought super chunky peanut butter the last time, and groaned. But I kind of love it, even though it’s much harder to spread on soft things.

That Smucker’s natural peanut butter is good, but I am lazy and like the kind I don’t have to stir.

hahaha, well, here’s something - i was more concerned with what it sounded like in this context. that said, i will always choose crunchy when given a choice. don’t hate me :mask: :grin:

Sounds really great and I love how playable it is. That is one of the things that I fell like missing in my eurorack case right now. I can easily do trills/legato/tapping/whatever on my guitar but to program anything like this into my ER-101 or Teletype I would need to have a significant amount of time (which as a parent I am constantly missing) and 0-Ctrl could give me back at least some part of such expresivity while still allowing me to use modular sound sources.
Are there any hard blockers that you encountered while playing with 0-ctrl, like something that can’t be done even with clever patching using other modules. Because as I mentioned it looks like anything that might be missing on first glance (like octave switches and multiple pitch outs) could be easily solved by patching it into an adder or shift register so I guess it is just really well designed :smiley:

I couldn’t be exactly sure from the video but do you mean that if you touch one plate and then touch second without lifting the first finger it won’t trigger a gate and won’t send CV of the second pad to output?

Right. If you touch plate 2, then touch plate 5 while still holding plate 2, the gate for step 2 will still be enabled, the CVs will be the ones from step 2, there won’t be any change in the keyboard gate output, the next reset will go to step 2, etc.

My expectation from more traditional keyboards is that playing legato would have switched the step gate and the CVs, but kept the gate output high… but I’m not sure what Buchla/Serge/etc. touch keyboards tend to do.

It’s not really a problem, just requires a bit more precision from your fingers if you’re used to using more of a hammer-on technique.
