I’ve made a few mics and always use these capsules, they are excellent for the price:

Are you putting the mics in your ears? if so you might try making a dummy head with fake ears to better funnel the sound into the capsules.

Oh i thought i binaural topic would be nice. To me surround sound is something quite different from binaural sound.
These are my diy binaural mics:

The capsules are right under the foam inside the earphone housing. I took out the original drivers.

(Maybe this needs a new thread, but this one seems pretty good.)

Wondering about performing live sets with multi-speaker setups (4, 6, 8). I have some friends here in Pittsburgh who have put together an 8.2 system, so I’m excited about the possibility of creating a set to utilize it. Those of you who have worked this way - what kinds of spatialization ideas are you exploring in realtime? Also curious about how to approach this via hardware and software.

For reference, I have a MOTU 828 that may be great for trying out some ideas since it has 8 inputs and outputs (I would need to do some real testing to see how my laptop would handle that)

What software are you using? Max has the ICST ambisonics package and some great panning stuff in the tutorials; I know less about Ableton but I’ve seen performances where people do some cool stuff. Not sure what they use, though.
