just a little Vulcan Death Grip clarification here…

you won’t see any change on norns.

but…you will then be able to open maiden and perform the Taroon-ifla which will allow you to do a ;restart and get things going.

(i’m really not a ST nerd…i had to look that one up)

ah, thank you for the clarification, I was not seeing changes on the Norns side and was wondering why it wasn’t working.

I at times forget that Norns isn’t always fond of opening with Mangl running and have the controls become unresponsive at times.

crud i am so sorry, had this backwards before. (i’ve scrubbed all trace of erroneous version)

when the reset happens you should see the norns sparklies and hear the woo-woo

was always more of a TNG fan myself tbh

ah ha!
(not the band)

Awesome!
Thanks!

ya know…i do like all of the series except ENTERPRISE.
worst opening song ever to any of the series…and even with the super hot Vulcan…i still couldn’t get into it.

Hey Mat, you think you can add Arc movement rec? Was reading the versions history, what’s the difference between glut engine and the one you had before? How does this compare to @stretta grainstorm? Thanks

mGlut is just my fork of the glut engine. the biggest difference is that glut uses freeverb and mglut uses greyhole.

I’ve never used grainstorm, so I’m not sure how it compares

re: arc movement recorders, i’ll think on it.

Is this app still working? I think the new clock has maybe caused it to stop working?

Should still be good. Is it not working for you? Any errors, or other info?

edit: everything is working for me. fwiw, mangl doesn’t use the clock system at all.

Oh… hmmm… I’m not sure why I’m
Having issues even when I update it. I’ll delete the script and reinstall it later today and see if a version works fromscratch

Can you run it with maiden open to see if it’s throwing any errors?

Will do! It’s odd, when I tried running it recently, it would load, but nothing would play and even if I had speed up, and the numbers would move, no movement from the sample. I’ll try later though and give an update!

I have had that happen before, but after a restart everything went back to normal.

I also just had a weird crash with Mangl right after booting up, where Mangl was the last script loaded. I pressed K2 to start track one, realized I didn’t have a sample loaded, went and opened one (~5 seconds long). It worked fine for a moment, but then the menu stopped responding to any key presses - encoders and arc were still working. After a SYSTEM > RESET everything works fine.

Stock Norns, Mangl script is up-to-date, but my Norns stack is built from current sources.

I did a clean install of the script and got it functioning again. All my samples have been less than 5 seconds, but I’ll give them a shot. But then again, I’m on a FATES and a diy arc, so I might not have ‘optimum’ debugging equipment…

Okay, so, I completed a DIY arc build recenlty and this is one of the first things I used. I must say, this is absolutely incredible and inspiring. I made an ambient-ish piece fully improvized from two simple guitar samples from Sarah Longfield.

Having the arc knobs just was a game changer. Feeling as if I was playing these samples with an intuitive instrument method. I’m, frankly, blown away. I want to look up some of the arc lua and max programming, because this instrument feels so magical and mine doesn’t come close to comparing to the real thing.

Thanks @Justmat, for this script.

And here is the track I made. tonight:

i ran into this twice yesterday, but haven’t been able to figure out what’s going on. it seems to always work if i manually load mangl, but booting into it seems problematic for some reason…

@kasselvania lovely track! thanks for sharing

@csboling This happened to me too, in the exact same way. For a moment I thought my Norns was defective, but all other scripts work just fine.

Yeah, just gave it a run and that issue happened again for me when booting in to the program.

For now, its fine to just remember that I need to load something else up when I finish my time with it.

has anyone been able to get any error messages on this issue? does this happen with other glut-based scripts?

i’m attempting to get some maiden feedback now, but after several restarts it’s yet to occur.
