One of the 6 outputs is feeding back into FM (intone FM), while another one feeds back into CURVE. Everything else is being modulated with Teletype running the Fugetta scene!

Thanks! I’ve just unpatched a patch I’ve played live for a few months and have been planning some JF and tt studying. This is where I will start!

It is great! I’ve been using it with my JF and W/

Hello guys, here’s my first post and for that I share with you the first complete patch with my new JF. So nice module and I really love it paired with 3S ! Thanks Mannequins and this forum !

Is anybody here using their Just Friends along with FM Aid? Seems like you could get some really cool results with the atypical behavior and control of JF, I’d love to hear what people think of the pair.

sorry for the noob question here.

Whats the difference between modulating the (FM) to (V/oct) CV inputs? Don’t they both modulate the FREQ knob?

The Attenuverter on the JF is a little confusing too. Turning CW is Linear, and CCW is Intone. Is it even an attenuverter for the FM input in the standard sense?

The FM input is linear FM while the v/8 is exponential.

Regarding the FM attenuator: Noon is no FM, clockwise (“LINEAR”) modulates all 6 outputs equally, counterclockwise (“INTONE”) modulates inputs in varying degrees: identity is unaffected, 2n is slightly affected, all the way through 6n which is heavily affected.

My understanding of the manual and in use, someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I’ve never built anything but I’m wanting a 2hp Poti. Would you kindly share your thoughts on how a total newb might approach such a project, in light of your suggestion that it’s a good first build?

Many thanks!

It’s been a while! But kits have been produced which make the build even easier.

Thank you

Considering two jf in my 104hp so they can be used together leaving me to have fun with the rest

2 JF is a dream! 3 is even better!!!

My set up is relatively similar to yours, that would be an extremely fun system! I was using the two as a bank of oscillators earlier today, four outputs as a chord and one as an modulator source for Mangrove. All mixed with Sisters. Extremely “simple” in terms of patching but so much timbre to explore.

Awesome yeah and I have a monome grid too. That’s great to hear thanks, i’ll Slowly build her up now

i was thinking
no one ever tried / wanted to use two JF with one teletype? is there a way? imagine one in geode and one in just type  and maybe a third for modulations…

I think you would need two Teletypes as well, sadly.

As I understand it TT does not recognize doubles, although you can have multiple modules connected to it.

TT can handle doubles, if there are multiple i2c addresses for the devices. JF only has one, so both would respond to each command. There are several modules with multiple addresses, like Ansible, the ER-301, and the TX modules. These can have multiple units responding to individual commands.

nb: with ansible there can be up to 4 devices connected, but only one instance of each app.
E.g. if you have two Kria’s running on two devices, they will probably respond to the same commands.
