Just pre-ordered! never heard of this shop actually… there is a nice discount for the first purchase as well

how do the pre-orders at control / etc work ? i assumed they had a certain amount of stock lined up & they would close preorders once that was accounted for, but comments here are suggesting otherwise ?

sorry to continue to fill the thread with ordering things stuff :- |

I assumed the same but I’m not sure. Keep fingers crossed!

Totally missed the Schneider’s update with the 28. I preordered mid September. Keeping my fingers crossed that everybody here gets one

ive heard ppl from control say this is how their system works… for just friends this week they had pre-orders up, then a sold out notification, but now pre-orders seem to be back up again w a new eta of january.

not sure abt other stores pre-order policies, i think it varies…

I’m eagerly looking forward to this!

Mangrove is one of the modules I regret the most that I sold (back when I cut my system in half) - it sounds absolutely lovely. Really hope they come back in stock one day.

I have a 10hp space in my palette waiting for this. Looking forward to that next batch :yum:

We’re hearing good news from our Just Friends board partner. More boards should be shipping first week of February, and I believe that will fulfill all our outstanding retailer orders (so anywhere you pre-ordered from). All going well, we should finally have some stock in our online store.

W/2 firmware is going through our final in-house testing and looking very solid so far. There should be a release candidate posted this weekend or early next. Thereafter we’ll be restocking the module worldwide with the new firmware.

So much more to come soon!

Thanks for the update. I just got Just Friends from the latest batch and it has been great so far. Do you have any estimate for when Three Sisters might be available again? My Cold Mac, JF and Mangrove are patiently waiting to team up with Three Sisters…

You can reproduce most of Mangrove with Maths or a Serge Dual Universal Slope Generator – basically any cyclical envelope that will ignore re-triggers during its attack phase:

I haven’t tried the Serge, but I know Maths can get into Mangrove territory. It does not track 1v/oct very well though.

Oh Cold Mac, how I love thee. Used all the time in every which way I have read about or imagined, what a brilliant module :mountain:

Nice! That’s my post on MW!

My Maths has been on complex oscillator duty for a minute…patiently awaiting Mangrove preorder!

You can circumvent Maths lack of v/8 input by syncing two VCOs and using their sync’d square outputs to trigger Maths Ch1 and Ch4. Works quite well!

Can you please say more about this?

Certainly, here’s a brief summary…

Maths Ch1 and Ch4 when triggered (on the trig input) will generate an envelope with a specific rise and fall time configured by the ‘rise’, ‘fall’, and ‘vari-response’ knobs. You can trigger the envelopes with a square wave running at audio rates. Though Maths is still generating an envelope at these audio rates, we’ll call it an impulse train, which is the terminology used in the Mangroves Technical Map.

What makes this particularly cool and unique in comparison to a traditional VCO, is when triggering an impulse train on Maths with a square wave VCO that’s being sequenced to a particular melody, the pulse width of the envelopes (or single impulse) do not change, thus formant synthesis is achieved. Conversely, on a typical VCO generating a sawtooth for example, the width of the sawtooth will scale along with the pitch. This pulse width scaling behavior can also be achieved on Mangrove through the ‘Constant Wave’ switch, and can be approximated on Maths by sending the v/8 sequence not only to the square waves that are triggering Maths but also to Maths ‘both’ input.

What’s rad about formant synthesis in this context, aka generating impulse trains from a square wave, is that when the wavelength of the triggering square wave is less than the rise time of the envelope, the function generator will ignore all rising edges of the square wave occurring after the initial one that triggered it until it the envelope has reached the end of it’s rise and is now falling. This results in subdivision of the impulse train, making it jump around and sound really wild.

On the MW link FluffyDuck posted I included a couple scope screenshots showing the subdivision which helps demystify what’s happening.
