The w/synth really shines through i2c since you can control so much of it via the commands. But sometimes I get hella confused swapping between modes.

How’s development going? I’m particularly interested in the full tape length and the timestamp control.

Do you mean the teletype integration? I did not have time to finish receiving data from W/ but sending all commands to W/ is already implemented so in case of timestamp and seek the commands are:

W/T.TIME seconds subseconds
W/T.SEEK seconds subseconds

If you will find any bug please let me know. The firmware is available to download in topic that I linked few posts earlier.

Oh no, sorry, not referring to Teletype integration but rather norns integration. I may have misunderstood what the issue is. The original post at the top just says that timestamp is broken.

Is that a Teletype firmware update or a W/ firmware update? Sorry, I haven’t had my coffee yet this morning…

Yeah, so it looks like it is broken on W/ side so this will affect any ii i tegration. The post that I linked has firmware only for teletype integration, sorry

There were issues with w/tape and the time stamp functionality had not yet been introduced. This was a beta test to see how functionality worked in the wild. Trent has suggested that much work needs to be done still.

No sweat, @karol! Thanks for the info, @kasselvania.

I was able to get some really quite amazing bit crush/ring mod type sounds out of beta firmware w/ tape just now, as I recorded a loop. I had some random voltages in this/that and was generally just mashing buttons. A power cycle fixed it. Not a terribly scientific bug report, but there you go. It did sound pretty ace tbf.

@Galapagoose hi trend  Here is a performance using the new firmware of w/ and Justfriends
Thanks for making this possible!! Very excited to see your new designs and musical ideas grow more!

Not sure it’s a good idea to whine here but I too am looking forward to the firmware progressing. Maybe if enough of us let Trent know how meaningful the next version is to us he’ll push it forward a little???

Looking forward to it as well. I couldn’t seem to get a clean recording in tape mode (lots of noise and digital artifacts) so I had to switch back to the original firmware, but I loved playing with the delay mode.

I don’t want to come over as a whinie person. “No” is also a answer

We are gathering momentum…how will Trent resist this force?

I am excited as well, but things take time, and firmware is complicated. Best to be patient and allow the time needed for things to be done well.

A w/ showed up at my door yesterday, and I thought I should share a patch/moment of joy from playing with w/del.

Fill up the buffer with some stuff, some variety in timbre and structure is good, but it should be devoid of silence. Freeze, play the buffer with a v8 signal and zoom in and out with the switch.

This (doing the thing, not the input) octave-jumps up and down, switching zones on the buffer changes the timbre, and the sequence remains somewhat legible throughout, but the sounds sort of move in and out between tone and rhythm.

@imminent_gloom link us some sounds, would love to hear it!

as somewhat crudely demonstrated in the preceding clip

Couple issues I’ve had so far:
I’m totally unable to slow playback speed of a recorded loop. I can speed it up. Slowing it down either has no effect, or silences it completely.
Sometimes, when I try to overdub on a loop, pressing record just gives me a glitchy sound, and nothing gets recorded.
