Does anyone know if it’s possible to set a loop by trigger? So far I was only able to trigger a restart of the loop

triggers to “loop [yellow+white lights]” will be equivalent to tapping the loop button, meaning: if there’s no loop, one tap will set the beginning and the second tap will set the end and begin looping. Once it is looping, triggers will restart the loop. I don’t believe loop scaling nor loop clearing are possible via CV… if you clear your loop by holding down loop, then the next two triggers should set your new loop.

I’m going to test now to see if a held gate clears the loop points already… seems like that could be an intuitive and useful feature if not.

Thanks for that! I tried that but it didn’t work to set the loop, only to restart. Maybe it was my trigger.

Yes… i see what you mean (I thought I had done this yesterday, but I guess I was only using triggers to restart). Then again I now can’t get it to capture audio so I’m doing something wrong here or my SDs are really busted…

Anyways it looks like this control is not in the latest update at the moment — gates and triggers of any length (I tested 10ms-500ms from teletype) appear to be treated the same: ignored when not looping and “loop restart” when actively looping.

thank you! i was beginning to think it was just me.

Haven’t gotten around to trying anything after the update other than w/syn, but it sure is lovely! Really liking the new led feedback for what is happening in this mode!

I just got around to updating to the beta to check it out and for whatever reason I am not able to get it to switch modes. I hold record + play + loop down, it seems to go into engine selection mode, I then try to pick a different mode other than tape but it just won’t switch.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I am also not able to erase the tape by pressing record fast 3 times

Once you’ve selected your action, you have to hold down action again to switch / clear the tape. The lights above the toggle will ‘charge up’ then flash once you can release.

@renegog
I’ve reproduced the gaps-in-audio situation here, so shouldn’t be too long til i discover what the cause is.

Just spent an hour fiddling with the FM synth alone. For some reason I bounced off it the first go around, but this time I’m really loving it.

There are times when I press Record + Play + Loop that I don’t start the Switch process. So I press various buttons a few times changing the yellow/white lights, there seems to be a pattern I need to be in before holding those 3 buttons to get the mode switch to start but I can’t nail it every time.

DISREGARD: Operator Error

^^ Top post updated with beta3 ^^

@renegog this fixes the issue where audio gaps would develop in the audio. Turns out it wasn’t anything SD related, just a buffer management edge-case.

@imminent_gloom the down + up gesture in the tap-tempo parameter (W/Del) now sets time correctly.

In W/Del, when you first start the engine there will typically be a strong ‘click’ at the loop point (when the lights flash). If you change the delay length (play + record) in either direction the click will disappear. I’m tracking down why currently.

delay mode is sounding gorgeous, I love trying to put two in the same settings manually (so that they’re slightly off) and having a stereo delay… the hype is real

also wow y’all are not wrong the synth mode feels way more accessible now… I can’t really tell what’s different but completely playable even without i2c, definitely. here’s a little example:

two w/2 in synth mode, same triggers and v/8 sequencing. one with some additional modulation to waveshape, and the other one I’m “playing” the FM ratio with cold mac’s survey knob. sweet spots abound. (no other sound sources or effects)

Really wonderfull to see a new version of the w/2 software
@Galapagoose the link for crow doesn’t work in your opening post. Is it needed for the new w/2? What is the difference with 2.0 and 2.1RC

I am a huge fan of w/ FM and w/ Tape as a live looper especially looping Just Friends. I have 2 x w/. One on v1 firmware for looping and the other one on v2 for the FM and Delay modes. There is w/ all over my new album, especially the first 6 tracks.

1 Crow - is Just Friends and w/ looping + Mangrove
2 Monsoon Sky are 2 x Mangroves and w/ looping
3 With - is 2 x w/ FM
4 How The West - is Just Friends and w/ looping
5 September - is Just Friends and w/ looping
6 Circling - is Just Friends and w/ looping

Just a question for @Galapagoose

As a curious observer to this whole process, what are the measurables or qualities that you’re looking for to go from W/2 beta to an actual official release? I’m just sort of in this netherworld with W/ still where I’m just not using it while I wait for it reliability to improve from v1.

But I’m also just compartmentalizing this question from my own feelings/experiences with W/ as someone watching this process play out in real time as someone who isn’t as ‘in the know’ about the process. Is it just a matter of ironing out remaining wrinkles? Do you anticipate there to be issues even when it is officially released, but fewer than whatever threshold you envision as necessary for an official release?

Thanks.

I love this kind of information! Makes me want to go straight to my eurorack and listen to your album, think and create for myself. Thank you for sharing.

same, and as I delve into JF more, I definitely am getting some bright Mudlogger type sounds, most welcome. W/ is a probable buy for me this year for this reason and others.

has the new year shipment mentioned already sold out?? sorry if this was addressed earlier

edit: good news!! 20 tys

hasn’t happened yet, I assume that was a wishful thinking ship date.

W/2 is absolutely stunning. All of the modes sound so luscious, and the depth of the functionality is mind-bending, especially given the constraints of the interface. It took me all of ten minutes to realize that the manual manipulation of module features is now a complete breeze. Endless gratitude to @Galapagoose for this majestic design!

Drooling to dive into i2c…
