Been wanting to play with reassigning THIS and THAT. It can be a bit heady to wrap the head around. I also want to do a better job of integrating my teletype scripts with it. Just haven’t gotten around to it. Plus I sent mine in to have a faulty card slot fixed. But once it’s back, I’ll try this out.

One thing I thought would work well is when making quantized music, creating a beat synced start/stop or loop points for different lengths and then having clock Pulses set the loop back to start point. This way, I could record something in to the loop at a quantized rate, pitch it however I want and at specified beat increments know that it’ll start from the top, returning it to proper beat.

Lots of cool potential tools to build!

Today I have spent all afternoon experimenting with W/ feedback loops

Here is a very simple patch - W/'s setup as @cosmicsoundexplorer explains above, mult outputs to inputs, patch a bipolar offset to THAT inputs, set a short loop, hit record, and start fiddling!

Here the outputs were tangled through ColdMac before being sent to the inputs, which made things a bit more interesting maybe -

Hey, my experience is exactly the same as you.
I have got two w/, one of them is connect ii (i2c) teletype. Like what you said, if I neglected it for a certain times it became freeze.

Picked up a w/ in the end. I love this thing! Working on the muscle memory, but just doing little delay looper tricks is probably all I want to do with this thing. Have been practicing a kind of ambient mix of tunes set and it’s really nice to have w/ on a send channel, just mashing loops and snippets of the mix.

This is just how I use it and pretty much is all I’ve done with it and I still love it. Plus there’s not much to remember using it like that

I could be having a brain freeze but has anyone found how to place a cue using CV? I sort of know it’s not meant to be used in perfect sync but still wish i could do that.

Not possible even in v1.2 as far as I can see.

Yeah I don’t think that is possible right now. The easiest way I’ve found to sync w/ is adding cues manually and using CV to trigger and navigate between them. THIS in sample mode and THAT in signal has been helpful.

Hello - test-driving a w/ this week (and will likely buy it).

I just accidentally overdubbed an LFO plugged into THAT into a loop and…i think the recorded LFO is now modulating the volume of the loop!!! :scream: That is so cool.

I was originally trying to modulate the pitch of the loop (I thought that’s what the THAT input did? I’m still rather confused after looping Sam Wolk’s video and re-reading rustleworks’ online chart all day).

sounds like you were in regular live mode (called “dub” on the rustleworks document) when you wanted to be in cue mode or “sample” live mode

edit: maybe you were just excited and not looking for an answer, sorry :stuck_out_tongue: been rereading the docs myself today lol

From Galapagoose in another thread discussing content for his MAPS streams:

I’m going to hold off on W/. There is a big update coming for it & it needs a whole episode dedicated to it (but it’s not quite ready).

That is extremely exciting to hear.

yes, it was mentioned in a stream (although after recording had been stopped) that it will involve more ii controls : )

Oh lawd, further i2c tools for w/ will be amazing. I’m assuming it will be mostly crow focused, but I hope it opens the door to further teletype ops as well. Expanded w/ i2c could certainly expand my usage of the Teletype as the centerpiece of my effects modulation. As well, I’m excited to see how this could effect the crow->w/ as I’m wondering ways in which sequencers such as Quence or Awake could function in conjunction with w/, especially with simultaneous JF output. The inclusion of w/ i2c could bring the family of mannequins modules together as a very impressive glue.

Additional i2c control would be wonderful. It’d be so nice to be able to wipe the tape, add cue points, and set the this and that modes all from teletype.

I would like normalized control over most parameters. The this and that are fantastic for surprising events, but become a little unwieldy when trying to do something specific. At least in my experience.

I’m torn with W/ - it’s probably the module I feel least comfortable with in my case but it’s the one i’m most confident of a happy surprise with - and I made one of my favourite pieces of music i’ve ever made with it. So I’m excited to get to know it better through its update, but I hope to not completely learn it. I love these fleeting moments of not knowing.

i’d love to know what’s happening w W/ that isn’t i2c

I am hopeful. It remains in the case but has grown dusty with disuse. I would love to rekindle what inspired me at the start. Maybe I should just power it all up and deep dive into what it is, today.
