Different combinations of Gates, Envelopes and Offsets create wildly different results.

I can imagine Cold Mac getting in on the action, once W/ is behaving properly.

Wow, you’re quick! I’m still on my first tape.

I’ve just tried patching wogglebugs woggle out to the tape speed  so good!

if i have a loop set and turn the power down, will it keep the loop points on next start?

well, will it keep everything during a power cycle? and just return to where you have switched it off?

Yes, as far as I can see. Cue marks persist until you manually remove them. Recordings are made to a file on the uSD card, so not volatile.

Yeah, I’ll echo the above re. mass deleting queues along with the tape. I think I’m struggling atm with the (sometimes erratic) behavior of existing queues when attempting to create new ones. For instance, when I have loop engaged, my new queue markers sometimes go unrecognized when recording (in overwrite), with the tape simply playing onwards. A reboot usually gets to me back to expected behavior.

Speaking of queues, can anyone offer me an alternative description of how you get those things moved or deleted? I’ve gone through Izzy a couple of times, and I’m able to get into queue mode, but I’m still unclear on how to operate in there.

Here’s a final sound example before I dash off for a busy work week. It’s three variations of the same loop being played in NAV mode through 3 Sisters, with an negative offset from Triatt playing the loop backwards at various speeds (via That), and an attenuated LFO into This for that slow wow effect. Also playing the toggle for some little pitch-bends! Original sound source is just lots of layered Mangrove and 3 Sisters.

sounds good. so you loop between cue markers, yes?
and if you power up the module and you left it with looping between two cue markers, it directly plays this loop? without the need to push play or something?

Hmmm. No, it would boot into Nav mode - which is like a tape player where no buttons are currently pressed. (See the cheat sheet someone posted above - which comes with the module. Or download the manual, which is slightly less cryptic than some other Mannequins!)

There are as many Cue marks on a tape as you want. If Loop is engaged, the playback loops from one Cue mark to the previous Cue mark.

You can move or delete Cue marks, but it is currently a little bit awkward (ie. some of us can’t get it to work properly).

First post here

Have W/ incoming today. Hyped but worried at the same time about the state it will arrive in. Have read all the above and can only hope the issues are firmware related.

I’m wondering if there will be a Philly-specific release called ā€œWITā€ (and the expansion ā€œWIZā€ that cheeses it all up)

ah, so lets say i had a loop running from the 30th to the 31st cue marker.
when i restart the module i have to navigate and find the 30st cue marker again?

I believe the tape would be where you left it, at the 30th marker.

Although, if the module had crashed, I wouldn’t be sure what state it would be in when you rebooted.

hopefully the crashes will get sorted… no need to bring that aspect of computer life into the modular world

everything now sounds a bit too complicated… i wait what will happen with later firmware updates…

Anybody using one of these with a Pittsburgh Structure 208 case?

I feel like this is entering the realm of ridiculous. I bought this thing because it looked simple and immediate. I mean, how convoluted could a 2hp looper be right? I just want to make some music. Now it’s just dective work and a manual full of riddles. I might have to follow the lead of others here by putting this in a box until the updates arrive.

This thing sounds great; the little tape speed glitches are lovely.

How do I tell which mode I’m in?

Also, a 8/10/16hp breakout with button per function might be amazing - maybe one for @bpcmusic .

Took me a while to grasp this, but you get an indication of which mode you’re in via the two lights at the top of the module.

With both orange + white on, you’re in Live mode
With only orange lit, you’re in Nav mode
With only white lit, you’re in Cue mode

Mine has yet to arrive, but I plan on putting it in my Structure 208. So far I have only experienced problems with one module, hopefully W/ won’t be another

EDIT: Batumi was the problem module. It always booted into strange modes.

Great - please let me know. I’ve only had 2 weird issues with digital modules in the structure case - 1 Audio Damage module had trouble booting, and I can’t enter the firmware update mode for Just Friends.

from how far i know, all the audio damage modules had a lot of problems with certain cases… maybe whimsical has the same? hope not…

I’ve got a Pittsburgh EP-270 and have had a few problems with it, however YMMV.

When I was using W/ with this rack configuration, I was frequently having issues with it booting into weird modes and having certain features not working (similarly, my Batumi frequently boots into ā€œzoomā€ mode with my Pittsburgh). It also seemed to affect Sisters, where power cycling was occasionally causing it not to function (???).

As an experiment, I pulled out the Morphagene and Plonk from my rack and now all the Mannequins modules are consistently working as expected. It’s pretty frustrating because I love the aesthetic and ergonomics of my Pittsburgh but it’s a bit of modular roulette with knowing what will work. Curious to hear how others fare. It also makes me wonder if some of the more frustrated users are actually not victims of user error but rather having the same power issues – I thought I was going crazy at first when W/ wasn’t working how I expected.
