@galapagoose has said, above, that there is an Erase Tape option. Erase All would be nice. I’m also hoping for Erase All Cue Marks.
@philmaguire wrt sending -4V in to make the tape sound worn. Check the colourful diagram in the manual under This and That which shows the effect varying from Oldest at -5V through Tape Compression as the signal in reaches 0V and then Destructive Looper as the signal becomes positive.
There seems to be an exponential relationship between the amplitude of the previous recording left behind when you record over and the negative voltage going in to That.
So, at -5V there is barely a signal left - the new recording almost totally replaces the old. Whereas at -1V, there is little attenuation of the old signal, with the new recording at an equal amplitude to the old. Around -4V is the sweet spot for the effect of hearing an old recording left on a cassette tape you are reusing.
Modulating This and That is where W/ is elevated to Something Special. You can get some amazing effects that I haven’t heard anywhere else.
Audio-rate LFOs can add other-worldly transformations to speech. Slower modulation achieves very realistic tape flutter, etc etc.
Also a lot of fun is recording on to the tape while the tape is running ar different speeds, backwards, etc. After a few passes, you have a lovely rich texture of sound with phasing and chorus and delay fx that are very pleasing!
