Hey there!

I’m wondering how to make the sound of output “plugin” working.
If I choose output “midi” - the sound is working.

Thank you in advance.

Console output says: “vst~: can’t find plug-in Aalto”
I installed it from there: https://madronalabs.com/products/aalto … w/o change.

Furthermore I copied the Aalto.dll into C:\Program Files\Cycling '74\Max 8\resources\support and now I get: “Aalto.dll: no format VST exists”

I tried installing VS2015 according to: https://cycling74.com/forums/no-format-vst-exists - w/o success.

it could be you put the 32-bit DLL into /support but you need the 64-bit one instead.

It may be easier to point Max at the installed location of these DLL files rather than moving the files themselves. You can probably send a whole path to the ~vst open command.

Yep, that’s what I realized too, but there was no change after I tried it.

Well, I set the registry value for VSTPluginsPath in HKLM/Software/VST to point at the original *.dll path of the plugins (C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2) - but this does not change anything.

I also tried this:

But error message stays ‘vst~ can’t find plug-in Aalto’

Being an instrument, Aalto won’t need the audio inputs you have in your patch here.

Like most things in Max I would approach this by opening up the vst~ help file. In it there’s a tab called “Instruments” that has a vst~ with all the right things hooked up to it to load an instrument.

I cross-asked this in the cycling74 forum and we found a solution: https://cycling74.com/forums/aalto-plugin-in-max-8
