Do you want a hand with this? I realized last night that the current firmware for MP doesn’t match the docs on the site, but pretty much matches (I think?) the Ansible docs with the exception of no CV out. If updating the MP docs on the site is about adapting the Ansible MP doc to the MP hardware firmware, I can help with that this coming week. If the intent is to keep the MP docs consistent with the 1.x firmware, that’s a-ok too. Willing to put in some time to get things set up the way you want if it’ll help.

Please do update the docs @cmcavoy, I keep needing to look things up and having to find the old thread where it’s discussed.

Quick update - I’ve got everything I need to update the docs (found the repositories, have an ansible and meadowphysics module to ‘test’ the docs). I’m not sure what the exact ETA is, but I’m shooting for a PR submitted by the end of this weekend.

I have a draft of the updated docs on github. If users of the MP module with the 2.1 firmware could take a look and make sure everything makes sense, I’d appreciate it. Also - the images need to be updated. I’ve deleted them for now. Is anyone capable of making updates to the grid / MP images? I’m not sure if there’s a template? Also, I used the video from the top of this post as the tutorial video. After a few watch throughs, I don’t think there’s anything in there that conflicts with the MP module version.

thanks you! i’ll make time to check these out soon. (in sweden right now teaching workshops)

@laborcamp is the wizard behind the ansible diagrams, though i should get the AI sources up on github so anyone can hack them up as templates.

@laborcamp - my wife is a graphic designer, if you have templates available in illustrator, she can help me make the diagrams for the updated docs.

I created a pull request to make it easier to see the edits.

I don’t have the files with me right now (away from home). Will be back next week, and would be happy to send whatever you need. OR make the images you need. Let me know.

Next week (or later) is a-ok, no rush. If you send the files, I can just work side by side with my wife and get them done. Are you ok with putting the files in the docs repo for re-use? Meaning they’d be licensed like the docs (which I realize now don’t have a license, but I’ve asked for that to be added.)

I selected a few illustrator files you could use, and have a .zip archive which is about 10mb What is the best way to get it to you?

I’ll DM you my email address. Thanks!

After a two month hiatus, a gentle nudge from @tehn made me realize we had all the graphics we needed and I didn’t need to have new images created. Beta draft of updated docs are on github, https://github.com/cmcavoy/docs/blob/a2b52dfc947ddf49083c73bfbfd335c99bb8c785/docs/modular/meadowphysics/index.md

If anyone has a couple of minutes to test and proofread, I think they’re ready to release.

My MP Is working with a non-vari bright grey scale grid. The documentation was clear and easy to follow. I used tape to write the column labels on my grid. I think I have a handle on presets and row ranges now but since I have a non-vari bright I know I’m missing some details.

I’m not having a lot of success apply changes to the rules (speed, position, or both) even though I am pressing colum 5, 6, and 7 with rows operating in a range. I’ll keep experimenting

Thanks again for your contribution!

I don’t have the module anymore so I can’t test. If it turns out the docs are incorrect, I can help update them and resubmit them or help you with Github logistics so you get some sweet open source cred!

Thanks for the offer! I’m just a user but happy to provide feedback. I can play around to figure it out then maybe write a little note on non-vari bright grids to include? It could totally just be me not activating a range correctly since I don’t have the additional vari bright feedback.

Ah, I missed the non-vari bright comment. Yeah, if you can get it to work with that model grid, it would make sense to include a note. I can help add it.

We’re all just users  open source! woo hoo!

It was me! I couldn’t see if the range was active or not and was doing it the opposite way.

“Define a range by holding a count and selecting another to its right. this defines the minimum and maximum.”

Notes on compatibility with non-varibright grids:

Non-varibright grids are compatible with Meadowphysics (and other trilogy modules) but there are many interface references that are not visible.

In Meadowphysics a non-varibright grid will display the start and current position but not the full count or range of a row. A non-varibright grid will display the current selection in the preset, rule, and row configuration menus but not the full interface layout. The provided diagrams are a helpful resource to locate the available options along each column.

Out of curiosity: has this been updated for max/msp? It’s my understanding that this is the latest monome max/msp package: https://github.com/monome/monome-max-package, correct?

this was vaporware until a couple months ago when @dan_derks and @tyleretters took it on as part of a larger project, so yes something new is finally on the way
