Oh, that’s great to hear Edgar. I’m of an age where those frequencies don’t hurt me nearly as much either :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: So I can deal with them a lot easier. But I also thought it worth remembering that the Wing Pinger can be wild and tamed at the same time!

Made a little drawing while figuring out what was happening inside the Wing Pinger from the info given in the manual. I like to try and figure out if I can reproduce other instruments with what I have so I wanted to give a go at the Wing Pinger with my Eurorack.
Not saying that you can replace one with the other as everything must be beautifully fine tuned, component carefully picked and the design and quality seem amazing, but it’s just a fun exercice.
So if this interest anyone here’s what I deduced about signals from the figure in the manual.

I just wrote a little enthusiastic piece about the Wing Pinger, with some associated links, that might be of interest to readers here.

Nice essay but did you mean ‘quite unlike any other…’ ?

I did and indeed, it’s been updated. This was a deliberate mistake to ensure that people were reading it

Received my Wing Pinger two days ago. I love how it is an instrument of it’s own. Here’s my first little video of it, exploring and learning.

I’m curious – how did you go about ordering it? Direct email to Meng Qi? It seems elusive, not that I have the dosh for it right now, anyway.

I ordered from Schneidersladen, they had a banana version in stock. And they seem to have at least one right now as well.

Mine came from Signal Sounds in September, though they show as out of stock, for now. Might be worth keeping an eye on them, though.

Some more explorations. This time with some feedback action going on.

What’s the best way to acquire a Wing Pinger at this point? Are we in “jump on waiting list an chill” territory, more or less?

You might want to email Meng Qi to find out the best stores for the next batches. I just got on the list for Schneidersladen and did a poor job of chilling–haha.

There is one on reverb atm but it somehow looks weird.
The gap between the black surface and the wood is too wide.
It is the first wing pinger I saw that looks like this, perhaps just a weird photo angle or something.

It only looks weird because the floor background is also wood.
It is beautiful. I once had a banana version but it took to much space away because it is a very big instrument for what it does.

Here’s a better photo of it. Would you believe me if I told you that that wing-pinger-- the only one for sale in the USA-- was being sold by someone about 20 miles from my home? We met up, and now I have a wing pinger and a new synth friend. What a fortuitous day.

Ok, on to my questions; the manual mentions a few different calibration procedures. Should I partake in those, or assume that the unit is “factory” calibrated?

Is it in tune when you use the keyboard? I need to get around to tuning mine as it seemed off from factory.
