Hope I’m not already driving you crazy with videos, but in the absence of much online, I thought it was of value to show the difference approaches one can take with this instrument. Today is a more East Coast oriented freeform improvisation that you might enjoy.

Please continue sending those videos. Much appreciated as I go crazy waiting for my preordered wing pinger… ;D

Could you perhaps do one without any effects?

Of course. I was doing just that this morning. I try never to drown anything in reverb either. Here it just helped the sense of space within it. I’m almost allergic to effects at times. Leave it with me

I just got word from Schneiders, the production was postponed to “probably 2021”.

please MR Rimbaud, send more videos! ;D

Literally looking at it this morning and going to make some more things, just for you (and others of course) :grinning:

Hm, first units are on their way to the distribution, in fact we got 2 in this week and more are somewhere in packages… and we ship as quickly as possible all year long.
Schneiders ordered quite early, that being said: the first batch is completely preordered but Meng Qi will build more in early 2021. So, not sure how up to date the Schneiders person was or how many end customers request/preordered.

Oh ok, the email was a bit unclear, they said production was postponed to 2021 but I’d have a good spot
on the waiting list and would get one from the first order…
I think I’ll give them a call tomorrow.
Thanks for the info!

Minijack versions were built first, now it is banana, we should still get a few this year. However there has to be a shipping break between the years since we need a break from a hectic year (despite or because of Covid19). Good for instrument makers but also stressful logisticwise. The WingPinger is worth waiting for and it will be there soon.

That explains it, I preordered a banana version. I don’t mind waiting, It is such a beautiful instrument.

A little more Wing Pinger sonic playground for you to enjoy. This time a mixture of abstract and rhythmic adventures together

MQ told me:
Wing Pinger Trigger output is 9v. And STEP output has a ±9V range. So it’s compatible with Eurorack / Serge / Bugbrand etc.
You’ll need to be cautious if the receiver can be harmed by negative voltage.

Nice good to know that the wind can handle negative voltages.
I thought Serge does not like negative voltages. I know Lorre-Mill doesn´t.
But should play nicely with Soma stuff and Ciat Lonbarde then.

I think Serge won’t be damaged by AC, but DC inputs will half rectify any AC voltage.

Wing Pinger noiz weapon arrived…

The Wing Pinger has landed here, too. It’s kind of a remarkable, insane instrument with a very wide range, capable of being melodic or not so melodic. Right out of the box, I was able to produce some low, rumbling flatulent noises that delighted the inner 13-year-old in me. It also works really well sending other instruments through it. Here’s some random notes plucked from an acoustic guitar, recorded in Cocoquantus loops and then sent through the WP, with a little dash of reverb via Oto Bam and some clicky noises from an xRollz.

This is very cool, thanks for sharing.

Looks like these are slowly rolling out to people - does anyone have any idea of when they might be available in the US? I thought about getting one from overseas but the exchange rate is killer.

The first manufacturing run was quite small. It’s supposed to be available more widely soon. Meng has also developed this cool little resonator called the Wingie that’s also imminently ready to hit the market. Perhaps he’s trying to coordinate both launches together. The Wingie is an incredibly cheap date at $75 and the firmware can be readily updated to expand its capabilities. Sign me up.

I hope that some of meng qi’s experiments with the ciat lonbarde circuits (like sidrollz and tetrollz) see larger release at some point (or pcbs). They seem great and the music he’s made on them is fantastic.

I’m going to think this was a typo but I rather like it as a positive philosophy, too.

Nice phrasing. : )

Mine arrived yesterday! Really nice instrument, love the range and sound.

I thought it would be more controllable and the arpeggiator doesn’t seem to work, or I misinterpreted the functionality.
If I use it standalone, only the non arpeggio mode sets the note, both arpeggio modes seem to do nothing. (haven’t tried midi though)

In general my feeling after about 4h of use is that its a very chaotic noise box which keeps on playing variations of the current settings, which I like a lot.
