Yes, thats the one

I mean, that Tex Mix that @thopa posted above would work in that situation + more (fx send, cue, etc). But I’m guessing you want something even more minimal

I have a TC Blender on the way, but just a simple, small, and high quality box for use with e.g. Korg Volcas and such (which have their own volume controls and often onboard FX) would be awesome.

I now have a need to find a minimal mixer. To have one set of speakers shared by a variety of sources. Something retro, minimal, simple. 8 inputs. Any ideas?

You didn’t say “beautiful,” so Mackie CR1202?

Good point, we’ll made.

All that plus beautiful

Not sure it qualifies as minimal, but it’s compact: https://www.sonosax.ch/product/sx-st/

Spoiler: it’s expensive

Wow. What case is that?

If the folks at Bastl ever visit this thread, there is a market (i.e., me) for a Dude 2.0 (pun intended) that runs in stereo and incorporates panning via the inputs like the Nearness module.

Are there any hardware mixers that are primarily screen based? I’ve seen some examples from a quick search but much of them still also have pots for volume, eq etc. Maybe I am thinking out loud here, but I am imagining something Norns form factor but primarily for mixing. Menu could be encoder and button driven. I’ve found that kind of interface doesn’t slow me down.

QSC Touch Mix 16. It comes in other configurations too.

I think the Motu Ultralite and 828 can work the way you’re describing.

Behringer, Soundcraft and A&H all have rack mixers that are controlled remotely via an app, I think they can be controlled by MIDI as well. So you could even use a Norns to control them. =)

looks great. really into this idea of using eurorack to build a custom mixer

i really hate working with mixers that have no physical faders. You can’t ride a level properly or quickly react. Touchscreens are the worst interface since you have to look at where your fingers are instead of having eyes on where the action is. (same criticism goes for in-car devices without physical buttons.) That’s good only for the set-and-forget type of operations.
There are plenty of those screen controlled “mixers” on the market. Most recent audio interfaces with a mixing engine (Focusrite, Motu, RME,…) will also offer software to do that kind of job.

You mean like LR16 that I posted earlier in this thread?

Woah! I missed that one. But yeah that looks almost exactly what I was talking about!

Not a mixer, but a midi controller designed for quick 4 track mixing in the box. Of course being midi it can do much more.
(I am of course biased as well because my wife makes these!)
