I LOVE Realistic mixers!
[o]
The
Realistic 32-1200B Stereo Disco Mixer was my very first mixer, got it for dirt cheap at a garage sale in Winnipeg back in the 90s, and quickly became one of my favorite toys, first as a budding bedroom DJ failing at beatmatching, then for making multi-channel ambient mixtapes, and later when I first started experimenting with no-input mixer noisemaking on it- I loved how every part of it came alive when it was plugged into itself: the pan-pots, the cue buttons, channel switches and so on - every interaction with a fader, button or pot brought out interesting rhythms, theremin-esque frequencies or squalls of horribleness. Fun for just playing records too, lack of EQ notwithstanding. Built like a tank as well. I let it go when I left Canada and would
love to get another one, one day. I’d gladly take one off somebody’s hands if I could find one in good nick and not too expensive…and if the international shipping doesn’t cost more than the unit itself.
