FWIW, this is the mixer I have my eye on as I very gradually move more of my workflow OTB.

(Though “workflow” sounds absolutely puffed up for referring to my noodling.)

I’m scratching my head trying to figure out a performance-focused euro mixer that works well in the isms. There are a lot of interesting choices out there, but many duplicate features already present in the isms output unit (like the headphone output) and most are way too big. I’m using the minimalist Pittsburgh mixer right now, and it’s almost there. but not quite. Anyone found anything that they like?

My mostly-hard requirements:

  • At least four channels
  • In the 8-14 HP range
  • Controls at the bottom, jacks at the top
    Nice-to-have:
  • Easy visual indication of channel levels in the dark (e.g. faders with LEDs)
  • Per-channel mute
  • Per-channel pan
  • Aux send bus

The Intellijel Mutamix would be perfect, if it was only four channels and 2/3 the size, and could be flipped upside down (the faders aren’t reversible): https://intellijel.com/eurorack-modules/mutamix/

The forthcoming Doepfer A-138p/o combo also comes close, but it’s 20HP, and while the input jacks are at the top, the output jacks aren’t. http://www.doepfer.de/A138p.htm

The Xaoc Naga looks nice, assuming it could be installed upside down, but it’s 20HP and not out yet: https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=76821&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I’d love to DIY a 4HP module with a mixer chip and a USB jack that allows using an arc4 as a mix controller, but that could turn into a huge rabbit hole.

I love my ADDAC802:

the ADDAC is listed as 50mm deep so wouldn’t fit in isms…

a couple of mixers i could think of that would fit your requirements are Unify:

  • somebody mentions in a MW thread it’s 37mm deep

and a DIY Gozouta mixer:

  • it says 43mm but it’s DIY so perhaps easy enough to mod, and might be easy enough to flip the faders to have the jacks on top?

D’oh! My math is limited. I should have figured that out. Sorry.

Beyond the physical scope, I think, of what the discussion has been about, but figured I’d mention this new UC 44 from Faderfox. (Found via Mark Lentczner.) I’ve got the DJ 44, one of its older siblings:

I think this would be a suitable partner for mardronalabs’ Aalto or at the very least a major component of a control surface for aalto

Just got at Veils and it’s adorable. Not very deep in every sense of the word but having fondled it for just two hours I learned it distorts beautifully and (thanks in great part to the leds) started caring for my gain structure across the entire patch for the first time. I’m gonna add a Blinds and mix both out of an ES-8 when that drops.

That’s pretty. But the price! DJing as a front line of conspicuous consumption leaves me uncomfortable.

I’m more uncomfortable with the RCAs to be honest

merely a personal bias

Conspicuous consumption + RCAs = WTF.

Nice industrial design though.

“Military-spec headphone jack” ? :no_mouth:

Yep, it’s a headphone jack that can run barefeet in the forest for miles and avoid traps while you’re yelling at it. Technology has no limits.

You mean “avoid strategically placed resistors”, right?

I prefer to place my resistors tactically, in response to the situation at hand.
