this sounds like something isn’t working right. will check it out

Ok. Thanks for taking a look!
Just so you can recreate the issue- I’m focusing on the track, turning volume all the way down using the knob on Norns, then hitting the button on the far right of the grid. Then I fade it in using the knob.

Diving into some MLR again this morning after a long hiatus from the script. Correct me if I’m wrong… to achieve a longer live sampling time, recording at a slower speed will do so? right? it seems like that is the result I’m currently encountering.

Would it at all be possible to add the ability to send a click track out of the headphones for MLR?

From what I understand - this would not be achievable since the audio path to both headphones and main outputs are the same. The only difference is that the headphones output has an amplifier, making it suitable for use with headphones.

anyway to get groups going here ? was my main reason for using MLR back in the day. i miss canceling out loops and and changing the pitches between the different loops after a pattern was recorded. here’s an old jam where i did that sort of thing https://vimeo.com/15003488

I wrote a script which walks a directory tree and converts all the samples it finds to mono (I can’t believe I didn’t do this when I got the Digitakt - then again, Transfer does it on the fly, maybe that’s why):

You will need to have sox installed, as well as pysox - see inline comments.

I got my Grid 2 days ago and am still mesmerised - mlr is a joy to use, thank you.

I did this by connecting to Soundbrenner app on my phone via Ableton Link. Tempo from Soundbrenner to Norns and click from Soundbrenner app through headphones.

Hi friends! so I just re-entered the monome world after taking a 10 year break. grabbed a Norns/ grid 128! loving it!

a couple requests though. I really miss my second page on MLR, which has controls for octave up and down and also reverse toggles per loop and volume / mutes for groups. Does anyone know if such a thing exists right now if not I would be willing to pay someone to code that for me. Also the Norns version doesn’t have groups which I really miss also!!

Here is some examples of my old patch I used to love that has a second page control.

Feeling particularly thick here, but I cannot for the life of me get any tracks to change from the default playback tempo. I have adjusted global tempo in settings, and then pressed ALT+ the two focus buttons on a given track while in REC/SPEED mode. I’m using the latest norns os and mlr with a current 128 grid. I’m sure I’m missing something annoyingly obvious.

Would anyone have direction for my track tempo/speed issue above? Pretty please :grimacing:

i can check it out later tonight— it sounds like you’re doing the right thing.

did you happen to watch the howto vid? https://vimeo.com/373768732/3ca0ac4a39

This just cements for me that I learn best by watching, not reading. I was pressing both track focus buttons together + ALT, rather than just one track focus + ALT, which was having no effect. Thanks for the video link!

I know it’s been lightly discussed but is there any word on whether stereo sampling for MLR is on the table. MLR is one of the biggest sells for Norns for me but I work with stereo samples so much and losing that width when sampling is a bummer especially when much of my Euro is stereo. I understand if that’s not part of the vision or roadmap, just curious more than anything!

@tehn, I saw you mention you’d planned an update of the mlr code. Is this a switch over to the new clocking? Do you have plans for one-shot or slice modes? And if not, do you think the new clock code would make that easier to add? (seems to me like it should).

yes: clocking, one-shot, slice modes. (though the clocking doesn’t have much to do with the latter in this case).

re: stereo. i could design in a stereo mode, but it’d drop your voice limit substantially. will work on it.

new mlr has lots more new/different features… but let me smash through the code first!

any hopes on groups on the new one ?

groups yes indeed yes

Thank you @tehn. So looking forward to this. I hope the “quantized speed settings” idea gets smashed into the code

I definitely love the idea of it being a switchable mode! Super open about what that would look like, thanks for the response!
