Just wanted to drop a line.

I used MLR today for the first time EVER via Norns/Grid and I don’t think anything has ever inspired me so much or made me smile this way in just one session. WOW.

Thank you to everyone involved. This is a blessing :+1:

This might be a question answered soon, but;

Following the github @tehn, and the playhead issue seems to be resolved with new crone. Is there a way to update crone?

cd ~/norns
git pull
./waf

Restart

please please just wait for the norns update coming sunday or monday

FYI i removed the “fix” as it will break existing norns installs. i’ll push the fix when the norns update is out.

Is there a function that controls the fade/cross fade between the cuts? I might want to add this as an adjustable parameter for each track, there is just something about that less faded more choppy mlr slicing that I kind of miss and has some interesting rhythmical properties

Also, added the rate slew param to my script, so beautiful.

yes, softcut.fade_time(voice, sec)

2.0.1 is up.

  • fixed position indicator position (requires norns 2.0.1)
  • rate slew params
  • level slew params
  • clip saving works
  • assorted small fixes

what is the new clip saving ? do you mean you can save what you record in to a buffer or save a set of clips you load in to the clip page ?

CLIP SAVING YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

mlr is performable again!!!

I’m beyond excitedstokedecstatic!!!

Thanks  @tehn!!!

Great - does pset saving with clip loading work also? This is the one feature I have been hoping for to play livesets.

Can you explain what you mean by preset saving? I’d love to have this functionality as well.

a preset that saves and recalls preloaded sample clips in their designated slots. Previously a preset was only saving and loading the preset parameters minus the actual sample involved, which is pointless.

So to play a gig, you currently have to search and manually import individual samples one by one per song preset.

Its something that is available on all other sample based scripts but has not been available in MLR.

When on the params page hold key 1 and you’ll be able to save a default or preset. It’s helpful if you’d rather start with a different tempo or have other specific params you want set when you load up

ahh brilliant, looking forward to trying this immensely! (especially the rate slew )

thanks!!!

not yet. i’ll add that. (just added issue. i need to actually track feature requests as i’m substantially underwater with micro-tasks.) https://github.com/tehn/mlr/issues/12

@tehn just wanted to ask this question again… :upside_down_face:

This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! Having clip slots loaded in addition would of course be great as well, but I’m just getting into MLR and was wondering where this preset save/load UI was.

I’d like to add some energy on that request… @tehn said something about reallocating buffers…have no idea how complex is

Bah, yes of course.

Just thinking out loud as far as how to do this interface(not script)wise. Could this be added to the parameters in the Clip-menu?

Anyways, if softcut only has 350 secs(??) per buffer it can be a tricky thing to sort out. How many buffers does softcut have? I’m going to have a look into this once I’m back in front of my Norns, just to see what happens when I push the buffers.

I believe that softcut can have multiple (perhaps an arbitrary number of) buffers, and that the main limitations on size are likely to be memory-related. @zebra could probably share more of their goals on the design and/or limitations. Of course at issue here is more likely to be how this is or isn’t exposed in the MLR script.
