that sets the crossfade time and should not influence overdub/erase level

(i have not run the script lately to verify that settings are as expected. you can monitor OSC from matron -> crone though…)

though i suppose if your xfade time is very long relative to the length of the loop, then loop beginnings could seem weirdly silent

bug report (sorry, I don’t have a GitHub account)
This came about after some semi-random button mashing… if you hold Alt and Q then hit any of the three page keys the audio shuts off and does not come back unless you reload MLR.

Is there a way to have one input bypass mlr and have one input go directly to monitor? Most likely doing a gig this weekend and would love to have a dictaphone just running without any effect on one input.

You could record the dictaphone and play it from TAPE maybe?

hm, at present there is no way to independently change levels of input channels on monitor bus.

the ‘mono’ and ‘stereo’ monitor mix modes are hardcoded here (wrong place for it really; should probably just be in lua for easier customization):

for mlr, the input balance is set here:

@okyeron kills abit of the performance aspect

@zebra no need to change the levels, just make one channel bypass the script and just go straight through the monitor, maybe just remove the channel 2 input cut? I’ll poke around and see what works tomorrow.

yea lines i linked in MLR script allow you to take an ADC channel out of the MLR input mix.

what we can’t currently do is take, say, ADC channel 1 out of the monitor mix, while leaving channel 2 in the monitor, and sending ch1 to MLR but not sending ch2 to MLR. i’m not sure if you are trying to do that or not.

I understand, but that is thankfully not an issue here, still would like monitoring on both channels. I’ll keep you posted on how the performance goes.

@kburwash I too have my loops slowly fade to silence and nothing is armed for recording. Has anyone else had this issue or found a fix?

had my first ever solo performance this weekend in a friends kitchen. Using mlr as the main “brain” for the performance with a dictaphone running some glockenspiel that I ran through @Justmat excellent Otis then ran half speed as something to “frame” the rest of the performance.

Anyone else notice that after defining a range on the cut page, that playback seems to start one cell to the left of the range?

Yes, I noticed the same behavior last night with Norns 2.0 and MLR.

I’ve been meaning to look properly into this. I’ve only had issues with this when I’m on reverse playback. Should be able to “hotfix” it, but might be a deeper issue.

Feature request:
“Slice” mode in the cut view, so that you only play the slice you press, not just move the playhead.

upgrade to 2.0.1 and get the newest MLR and it’s fixed (i think??)

I’m on 2.0.1, but haven’t pulled the latest mlr from git. I’ll give that a shot.

I was running Norns 2.0.1 and believe I was also running the latest MLR but will download again tonight and report back.

I’ve confirmed that I’m running the most recent versions of Norns (2.0.1) and MLR (2.0.1). To be certain there hadn’t been any minor code change in MLR, I downloaded and transferred a fresh copy of mlr.lua.

The bug that @GoneCaving described is still present, but only when the clips are set to reverse playback (as per @noiserock). To reproduce:

  • load a clip into Track 1
  • start playback of Track 1
  • set playback mode of Track 1 to Reverse
  • change to MODE: CUT
  • press any button for Track 1. The playback indicator light will always start its display one to the left.
  • return to MODE: REC/SPEED
  • set playback mode of Track 1 to Forward
  • change to MODE: CUT
  • press any button for Track 1. The playback indicator light will always display under your finger, as expected.

Hope that’s helpful.

In addition the loop playback indicator is one off on both head and tail ends when making a loop in the CUT view in reverse mode.

thank you for the thorough report, will check it out!

I’m still struggling to get volume levels consistent when using Norns and MLR. The volume of my sampled clip playback always seems to be very loud compared to the monitored input from my source that I’m sampling. I’ve tried messing with the monitor levels and input/output levels but I can’t quite get it right. Anyone have any tips?
