Just “completed” my setup with a DeerCocoDeer. I’ve been wanting a Cocoquantus for probably a decade or something, but after three nights with this I have trouble imagining it without deerhorns attached.

Working on circuit ideas and find myself wanting a controllably-random pulse generator similar to the BDUSOU section of the Dunst; ie random but with the overall speed knob-controllable from slow sporadic clicks to fast crackly noise. If I build the following, from the fourses page, would that basically be the same thing? (I would presumably need to add the power supply circuit and the exp convertors which are represented by triangle-into-circle here) -

…and/or does anyone know any other good circuits to create this kind of signal?

I have a Meng Qi Sidraw on it’s way to me currently, super excited. I never played a sidrazzi/sidrax but always loved the sweeter softer tones compared to my tetrax’s tendency to venture off into the harsher waveshapes very easily, but I have always preferred those oddly shaped spikey waves as Low frequency modulation sources. It seems like the sidraw sort of has the best of both worlds, along with touch capacitive playing. Can’t wait to give it a spin… seems like I have 6 more days til it arrives

Nice, did you find one second hand or had one built? I’ve always thought they sounded like a rawer Sidrax.

He made 3 recently on top of the 2 already in existence from a good while back. I coincidentally emailed him about them a little bit before any of the new videos or indication of a new batch surfaced to inquire about getting one as I spent so much of this year listening to and loving his Sidrolz album. He told me the 3 were already taken by people that had been on a waiting list for a long time, but as luck would have it one of them dropped out and he offered it to me  super lucky as I can see lots of people on instagram asking for one!

Thanks for sharing - I was wondering how you managed to get one. It didn’t seem evident that it was going to be a product regularly for sale. It looks great, and fun. I’m hoping he gets some traction on bringing his products to the world, they all look beautiful and well thought-out.

Think the Wing Pinger is supposed to be the first proper production instrument from MQ, that one is definitely looking awesome!

My entire body is ready for the Wing Pinger. Sorry, just had to mention that.

I’m really hoping the new teasing PB did on instagram is about a stuber/duber
I’ve been bugging him about that instrument for a while now
even though I’m deeply in the video synth trenches and am not really playing with the audio stuff I’d buy one right away

Does Meng’s Gestural Arcade for the Double Knot count as a production instrument? I have one of those for my Cowboy Callosum and it’s amazing. The Pinger has been impinging on my thoughts as well

Stuber would be awesome, I’d definitely have one too

I recently finished soldering up a lil sidrassi, old mister grassi and phosphate aluminum crystal simulator. One thing I noticed, all three of them make sound even when none of the nodes are being touched. I was able to find demos on youtube where it seems that the circuits only make noise when touched, but I was also able to find demos where they drone as they do in my builds. Anyone have an idea as to why this might be?

some things to note: The 1n914 diodes on my build are very small clear things with a bit of orange inside and black markings, I’ve seen builds where the diodes look like they are an opaque grey with black markings and are quite a bit larger. I built on pcbs and not paper.

i’m planning to order cables for pb2 and coco2 this week. i’m looking at the buchla ones at control right now which seem a good value. does 15x 5”, 15x 10” and 15x 20” seem like a good selection? will i regret the 5”? is this too few? any tips appreciated

It’s not enough. You can easily use 40 just self-patching the pb. Also I would not get the 5” ones. Once you start stacking, you have to account for vertical space as well as horizontal.

thanks! this is useful. should i look elsewhere than control? i wanna get good quality cables from the getgo. if anyone has a suggestion for lengths/quantities/brands i’d be appreciative

Kilpatricks on reverb are decent and not too expensive.

I wish there was a way to make a ‘sticky’ for banana patch cord sources.

is there any reason to buy pomona over kilpatrick or those modular addict ones?

Pomona are generally considered the best. I use the Buchlas, primarily because they’re a little less expensive and they’ve worked great with my CL equipment. No complaints.

I’ve not tried the modular addict ones, but that’s really reasonable pricing. I have a bunch of pomonas at this point but if I was doing it again, I’d probably go that route.
