Finally caved and ordered one of these Loci stands for my PB & Coco and am curious if people are mod’ing them or something? While they both fit on there (I did get the Classic) , they either are too close to plug in power OR which ever one you put at the top hangs off the back and can’t be patched without holding on to it otherwise it will fall off the back. Thinking about cutting a couple slots to mount it a bit lower, but seems a shame to have to modify it, although easy enough.
i use the classic without modifications. the top synth does hang over a little bit, but not enough to matter (to me). never had a problem with patching single handedly, though the stands are quite lightweight so i usually unpatch things with both hands.
I think there are half as many slots for the braces on mine! I’d say about half the top unit hangs over the edge. hm…
Edit: Yup, check out these product images… the current version has way fewer slots. Boooo!
oh wow! i didn’t realize they had redesigned things. i wonder why they went with less slots/options?
Ya, kinda sux. It winds up pretty expensive for a couple pieces of wood and then to modify them because they quietly changed them is a drag. Both those photos are still on the product page…
I think I have the classic (got it from my pal who sold me the Coco). I have PB on the bottom and Coco on top, hanging just a big past the edge.
I’ve definitely had to do some modestly delicate work getting power (from my Cioks) and i/o connected neatly, but I’ve found it very stable for my wooden friends. I haven’t had problems with stability while patching.
I’ve got a kvgear stand that is similar and I’m very happy with it. It has protective rubber where the edges are.
Heard back from Loci, and they have made a few design changes to keep costs down (wouldn’t think laser cutting a few notches would drive up the price). Something important to keep in mind if thinking about buying the Classic in the future to hold CL units.
For reference, this is the KVgear stand I’m using (probably mentioned somewhere else here I’m sure, but it’s a deep thread).
I use their Utility M3 and its great!
Just got the same one for my CL and would also recommend. Also have a couple of their smaller Stiletto stands for OTO and Bluebox, puts everything at a nice angle.
ooh other colors though
I’ve just realised that i have had a missing screw on the deerhorn from my Plumbutter all this time. Now now i can’t unsee it. Any ideas where i can get one (in the UK)?
On mine, they are a Number 4 1” Phillips roundhead (or bunhead) screw, and can be found in pretty much any hardware store. You could also go with a shorter length if it seems sturdy enough already and you just care about how it looks. I recommend unscrewing another one yourself, putting it in a little bag so it’s harder to lose, and bringing it to the hardware store with you to compare or show an assistant.
On newer instruments, it looks like they’re using Torx screws (6-pointed star heads), a good hardware store should have those too, but you’ll need to get a screwdriver that will turn them, too.
Maybe this thread could be split into a sub forum? Coming up on 5000 posts in this one, would be better for transparency and clarity
was anyone here around for the downfall of the shbobo forum?
it was overrun with bots
It was nice to have a place for all things shnth at the time
