It is indeed very neat!
Has a couple easter eggs and components left over from either prototyping, or alternate builds.
Has power hookup spots for a solar panel.
Some new symbols, and components, that I have never seen Peter use as well!
I obviously voided any and all warranty by opening it up, but someone would eventually I am sure lol.
I am currently hesitant to post pics of it tho.
Don’t want anyone upset with me lol.

Newbie question on the Plumbutter: I noticed that I can insert steps in the sequencer only by long pressing the red square button, and remove them only by long pressing the white one. Is this behavior normal?
Needless to say that if I quickly press either button, nothing happens.

MWRS only “records” a change when an incoming pulse is received. Try to increase the frequency of the pulses and you’ll see that the “recording” happens quicker.
So when a pulse is received (green), if a button is being pressed at that time, the change will be recorded. Make sense?

Oh, I see. So keeping either button pressed gives Plumbutter an instruction that will be executed when the next pulse is received.

But, if you press and let go before the pulse is received, then you get no change. Basically you have to be pressing when a pulse comes in.

Right, that’s clear now, thank you so much for the explanation. Who would have guessed… This is such an obscure piece of gear for me. I’m avidly consuming any type of information I can find.
It’s like, when a tick occurs, the register shifts, and the first position is set according to the button states (with ON taking priority if you hold both), or if neither button is pressed, then according to the signal coming into the purple data jack. There’s no computer in there watching your input and quantizing it, it’s just setting state based on what’s happening in the moment. This is pretty standard for analog step registers, so if you ever play with a Double Knot or something similar you’ll know what you’re doing.

Thank you, this is enlightening, and it shows how little knowledge I have of step register sequencers. I will give it a try when I get home.

I was a bit disappointed that the, ah, Peterlin’s red, orange and gray outputs are unable to trigger the greens on the plumbutter, but I do really enjoy the sounds it makes, and there’s still plenty of cross-patching fun to be hand with just modulation. And it can trigger deerhorns through their orange jack, although even when slowed down as much as possible those triggers still come very fast.

put some of those outputs into the MWRS to slow them down and give yourself some red/oranges that can be used to trigger the green jacks on PB correctly!
MWRS is great for taking a sound source and making it into a stream of on/offs

Wonderful! Question to Peterlin users: I held of ordering, as the sound of this thing was quite too violent/chaotic for my setup, but I do wonder if I was wrong. Would you guys say that Peterlin also has it “sweet” moments?

After playing with the Peterlin for a few minutes, I’m glad it sounds very different from the Benjolin which I have a lot of experience with. It really is a take on that instrument and not a copy of it. Looking forward spending more time with it.
@fellowfinch It’s a great drone machine as well with subtle modulations and beautiful filtered sounds.

it can be super “bubbly”
It honestly depends on the res, filter freq, and osc positions. lolol
The faster the osc the more normal the “tone” if there is no rungling introduced
You can get some fat riffs on it for sure

Not that it really matters, its just an idle thought, but I kind of wish they had opted to call the new thingy Blasserlin instead.

Back in the day on synthmall Ordering - Peter used to offer I believe the radiozither or maybe sidrassi for a nice trombone…

To add on with another idle thought, perhaps they could have named it - Berlin

FYI - I received my shipping notice for my Peterlin this morning. Order number is in the 1340’s if I recall correctly.
