got some PCBs on the way (thanks @mlogger !) for various paper circuits to get started in the CL world. Starting with getting together the stuff for the gerassic organ.
I had the idea “wouldn’t it be cool if I could get a gate out and led light up based on the current note being played”, which I was talking to my friend @brianleu about and he found this awesome IC https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/?qs=2Yv9SV80M5h3imMlmGq92g%3D%3D which should allow me to do that!
Check the truth table on the bottom right of this first page to see how it works. http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/cd4028b.pdf. Essentially you would just wire up buttons “1”, “2”, and “4” to inputs “a”, “b” and “c”, and then the first 8 outputs can be used to tell which note is on (including the “all off” 0 note).
As far as I understand, this gives you the voltage the circuit is running at (9v with battery or 9v pedal power supply) when that output is high, and 0v when it is low. So you’d take that and wire up an led (with appropriate resistor to not bust the led).
My question is would passing that 0-9v gate signal to a banana jack interface well with other CL stuff…I read about a voltage divider circuit that seems like it’d be pretty simple, but I wanted to check first to see if that’s even needed, or if just leaving it the full amount would be good.
