A little cross-post in case this is interesting to folks in ciat land! Dropped an EP yesterday that is comprised largely of ciat-centric live improvisations:

Cheat codes on norns was used to trigger (mostly) cocoquantus + plumbutter samples, and coco/pb were used in tandem for additional sounds + processing.

Lately, most of the scant music-making time I get has been spent getting to know the latest addition – Cocoquantus! It’s still somewhat of a mystery, but I really do have fun plugging different sources in, twisting knobs and hearing what comes out. I’ve mostly been posting short clips to Instagram, but decided to record something a little longer, since the cocoquantus was getting along well with the lorre-mill double knot. Cheers.

It works, finally! realized I had a connection between the op-amp and multiplexer chip off by one. lots of debugging, waiting for a new chip to arrive (coz I thought my 4067 was busted).

Here’s some audio. just some non-synced lfos turning things on and off.

First is the raw sound just to hear how the gerassic organ sounds.

And then here’s it ran through 3 sisters and my meris delay and reverb pedals (and some in the box mixing cleanup). definitely inspired by listening to @pftjschute ttsh studies earlier today

hey y’all cocoquantus owners!
hoping someone can help me understand something with the coco2. i recently got one, after only having messed with a friends once or twice before. i’m fairly eurorack-experienced, so i understand the layout, quantussy functions, etc.
my question is specific to an oddity i noticed wherein if i’m looping on the delays and i press either of the two ‘freeze loop’ buttons, i notice that the pitch of the loop drops slightly. usually about 2/3rds of a semitone. happens on either looper, although it seems slightly more noticeable on the right side. is this… normal coco behavior?? i’ve never noticed it on anyone else’s videos of it. what would account for this behavior? i know it sounds mild but it’s a total nuisance when i’m stacking and building loops and the pitch keeps toggling up and down. kinda kills the tunefulness of the melody. any help is appreciated!

maybe normal or maybe somesuch going on under the hood that’s a lil off. pb is known to use a light touch with the soldering iron.

I don’t think I’ve noticed this behavior on my coco tho.

Hmm, I think I notice this sometimes as well. I have to double-check to see if I can recreate it. Previously, I just chalked it up to having the chaos knob turned up. Plus, with how everything influences everything else, I find it hard to determine where that could be happening. One thing to check - did you bump the speed knob of the coco while you were looping? Is there anything plugged into the purple CV input jack for the Speed / Affect controls?

^ i uploaded the video to youtube demonstrating the pitch oddity. it’s a bit milder than i thought it was, but you should be able to hear a slight drop in pitch every time i press the loop-freeze buttons. mild enough for some to not care, but it bugs me when i’m trying to stack up melodic lines and the two loopers keep going in and out of tune with each other as i freeze the tracks.
do any of y’all’s do the same thing? or is mine a runt unit.

It’s almost certainly the battery. 9v as opposed to the recommended 12v PSU is going to change the behavior.

I’ve never experienced anything like that - I do always use a PSU though.

thanks for weighing in on the pitch/freeze issue. i’m hoping it’s a battery issue as has been suggested. i don’t have a psu for it yet, but when one arrives, hopefully it won’t (mis)behave the way it has been.

Thought I might share a track I made with my homemade 3, 4, 5, 6 rollz, a physically manipulated cassette tape and a DIY norns shield

Also as a bonus, I used that track to figure out how to glitch mp3 files to get some (subjectively) nice digital artifacts

anyone have any suggestions for using the xlr input on the coco 2? I have a shure sm57 running into it and can only hear it when recording/sounds super quiet with all the gain knobs turned full cw. not sure if that’s normal behavior or not as I’ve only used the stereo ins before.
