Should be fine as long as you hook up the grounds. I asked Peter B about using C-L stuff (coco in particular) with Serge and other instruments and he said this via email:

“They work well with other synths. The only caution is to not mistreat the
brown jacks on rolzer and plumbutter, but coco2 doesn’t have any of these.”

Thanks for that! Definitely need to play with the Gongs as filters a bit more. Any particular reason you’re using the piezo input for the Sidrax?

Nothing particular, I have a guitar pedalboard going into the xlr input, just the way it’s setup. AV Dogs are cool too as stereo auto pans from a mono input. Muffs has some great threads to trawl through, that’s where I got lots of patching ideas.

The “auto-pan” on input is one of my favourite features! It really helps to get away from the inevitable Plumbutter sound of the AV dogs. I love throwing field recordings or voice in there :+1:

Absolutely agree, then AV Dogs into Gongs and so on…

Auto-pan? Can you explain that feature?

This might be a silly question (not in front the ciat fam rn) but are you using a specialty banana to 3.5mm cable to run the av dog output into the gongue? AFAIK, there’s no way to take a banana output straight into the gongue’s banana input in filter mode, right?

The AV Dogs pan in stereo when triggered!

There’s a VCA of sorts that controls the speed of the “panning” with positive and negative modulation of that speed.

There’s two “voices” in this section but both of them have a separate stereo pan which is why it can work well on mono sources :+1:

Wow, that’s interesting. I definitely didn’t need any extra push toward the plumbutter, haha.

this is awesome. what is that enclosure you’re using for the spikering? i always end up using cigar boxes but i’d like something more small and sturdy with enough holes for jacks and pots

or @hawksquill which enclosure are you using?

Those look like painted hammond-style stomp box enclosures.

ok, I’m back with yet another Tetrax question…

Can you get a triangle wave from Tetrax by adjusting the 2 wave shaping knobs? (and essentially get the same sound as Sidrax?). Still tossing Sid vs Tet around in my mind, so forgive me.

Meng Qi’s description of the Tetrazzi circuit says this:

“Tetrazzi is 4 oscillators with symmetry control so they morph from saw to ramp with triangle in the middle. other specs are similar to sid.”

i got the impression that sidrax is just tetrax x2?? could be way off, though.

I got some info from someone on MW forum. They shared this video that shows the behavior of the sliders, which seem to change the waveshape, along with pitch knob. Sidrax stays a triangle wave no matter what the pitch sliders are doing, so it looks very different.

The expanded gerassic organ circuit work is still chugging along. Émilie over on the MI forum provided some awesome ideas for how to get some more CV in there. My friend @brianleu helped me figure out how to get -5v - +5v range and an attenuverter for the pitch CV input. And I’ve started talking with @crucFX about PCB design stuff.

Here’s some raw audio from experimenting with the organ last night as I was dialing in the new CV parameters:

I think things will turn into two projects…a PCB that is all through-hole with all of the various circuit mods I’ve found, with the discontinued 4067 through-hole chip replaced with the SMD version pre-soldered on by JLPCB’s robots. Basically something that will be a fun and relatively simple/cheap DIY project.

And then a PCB that has all the CV stuff (trigger ins, gate outs, pitch cv, decay cvs) which will be nearly all SMD. I need to confirm that Peter is okay with this first, but if there’s interest I may build a handful of these to sell to others with a nice milled enclosure (if I can figure that out…definitely inspired by the design of stuff like the Meng Qi Wing Pinger and Vongon’s Ultrasheer). And of course, all this open sourced if people want to build their own versions, explore other ideas based off the work and stuff…I’ve started the github, but it needs to be updated with the schematics (and eventually docs and pcb files will live here)…definitely not done.
