Just want to say a big thankyou for doing this. Awesome work. Kria is my goto workhorse sequencer and this video demystifies it

In the Preset Banks and Saving my Grid in column 6 has 5 lit buttons that are not illuminated in Puscha’s tutorial. I have installed the latest beta firmware but I can’t find anything that says the Presets page has changed. Can someone clarify?

Sounds like that’s the bank glyph. For each bank you can “draw” a different shape by toggling each of the 8x8 buttons on the right hand side on or off. Just lets you know know which is which, same as naming a project on another machine. The 5 lit buttons from memory are there when you reboot from fresh

Will see how I go regarding a separate config tutorial, have had another request for the same. No promises though as I think it would be a challenging one to make clearly, and it’s a niche within a niche! I figured it out by spending some patient time with it and the manual, trying things out until finding what made sense to me and suited my needs. If it helps I am happy to share the what I scripted for the video about configuration?

These five buttons are not on the right 8x8 side but in the 6th column of the left side. Maybe I should take this to the Ansible beta forum.

I finally had time to watch the whole tutorial. I have discovered many things i did not know about, still confused with the preset managing but one thing at at time.
thanks again!

Thank you for this! So great! New to Grid/Ansible so this has been super helpful. Becoming one of my favorite sequencers for Eurorack.

Adding to the praise. Thanks so much. As I mentioned in my comment on YouTube, I’ve used Kria for a long time, and there was still stuff in there I didn’t previously understand, like ratcheting. Those configuration settings were especially helpful, too. Spent a buncha time last night with my Ansible, Grid, and ER-301.

For some reason I can’t get the ratcheting to behave that way with my Ansible, it always bursts the triggers rather than subdividing within the step. I want to play triplets! It looks like I’m using all of the same settings as you and I’m on the latest firmware, so not really sure why that’s happening.

Hmm are you making sure that you’re toggling the ratchet to “on” for that channel on the scale page (2nd column)?

I just had the tempo going way too fast, we’re cooking with gas now.

that makes sense. I wish I could find my old notes I made when I had wrapped my head around it  I had an annoted grid where I had written down for instance: “with this glyph illuminated parameters within a track will remain quantized/maintain the same loop length/etc but different track wil be able to have different loop lenghts/ not be synced amongst one another/have different clock divisions. to do so, the following glyph needs to be illuminated”. Since I’m a visual learner, seeing the glyphs and the words together made it click. If I ever find those notes again I’ll be sure to post them. If not, and if I find time, perhaps I’ll try to remake them.

I just got a grid and ansible and this was super helpful to get into Kria - thank you so much!

It is most likely because I am all too new to it, but I can’t seem to get more than six steps in a sequence (as in the tutorial video).
What is the super obvious thing I’ve missed here? -_-

And less than six? To change loop length and position you have to press the first modifier button (from the group of three in bottom row) which corresponds to Loop and while holding press the two buttons to determine begin and end of the loop.

Edit: if this is what you were missing, make sure to check the docs. This is explained under Modifiers.

Thank you for the help! Yes, I looked through the docs again and found it (must’ve overlooked or been slow)

This feels like a whole new instrument to me now. Funny how seeing something explained can have so much more of an impact sometimes than reading it. Here’s some mangroves and w/syns sequenced by Kria. Thanks again @Puscha!

Sounds great! I really like the melodic and harmonic movement. Feeling stoked to have helped you discover something more in your instrument! :heavy_heart_exclamation:

Don’t feel bad, I had this same problem when I first got my Grid & Ansible. I was convinced that Kria was a 6 step sequencer for a couple days until I actually read the docs in depth. Lol.

Thanks @Puscha for this tutorial, I’ve been watching it almost from week to week eheheh as I’m waiting to Ansible (and Norns) to be back in stock to use Kria with my modular. I’ve bought a Grid in October and I’ve found a White Whale module by 2nd hand just a couple of week before, to use the combo with my eurorack and I like it, but I miss something like ratcheting and the pulse width xstep (is Kria capable of doing these two options right?)

I have a couple of further questions, as I use my sequencers for more than only one purpose:
I like to record generative sequence melodies using my modular oscillators to re-use them with my ER301 granulators, or I use my sequencers to sequence pre-recorded analog drum sample slices on ER301 too. So the question is, as the Ansible/Kria seems so nice for generative melodic sequencing, anyone use it to generate IDMish drum events with satisfaction?
I’ll use it for this purpose for sure as soon as I’ll put my hands on it, but I wold love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks
