I am sending note on / off messages to a select object from the monome. When I push the 46 1 monome button the toggle sends a bang to the message below to an oscillator “note on” object but when I release the on button and it switches back the other toggle it sends a bang but the message that receives doesn’t send it on the turn of the note off again it makes no sense ?
a toggle box into a message box 46 24
will do nothing. you need to bang a message box, or use a $1 to pass the incoming value.
the toggle into a bang will bang on both 0 and 1, so you’re repeatedly sending 46 0
over and over.
what are you trying to do?
Well when the 46 24 message receives a bang from the toggle I have a pack object that receives the values and sends them on as midi values the 24 is velocity. The bang after the toggle is superfluous. I wasn’t sure why when I use the mouse to click the 46 0 message the oscillator would turn off but sending it a bang wouldn’t do the same job?
They’re basically just on and off midi messages
[sel 46 1] is not going to detect a list like ‘46 1’, it’s looking for separate incoming messages ‘46’ and ‘1’. Additionally, whatever happens, once it detects a ‘46’ by itself, it will trigger the right toggle and then the left toggle immediately, so in effect, what your patch is doing everytime the sel object detects the number ‘46’(regardless of whether that 46 is in a list followed by 1), it will trigger the ‘46 0’ message and then it will also trigger the ‘46 24’ message immediately after, thus triggering an off followed by an on(the same as always triggering the ‘46 24’/on all the time).
See if this patch might make better sense for you:

also here’s that same patch but with more to expound on what tehn was saying about using a $1 in a message:
