Would you mind taking a quick video of these issues? Im tempted to pick up an old 128 grid to use with ansible/kria so im really curious as to what parts are particularly difficult to navigate. No worries if its not possible though

With the current version of kria on ansible, with the gs128 there is no visual feedback (no lit leds) for the probability modifier and config view, so you’ll have to memorize where the settings are, look at other views, and listen to confirm things. I’m not sure whether making a video would clarify this, and unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to make and put up a video until well after January.

Also, the led feedback for editing notes on the gs128 is different than the white whale kria version in that you only see a lit led for the current step on ansible, while on the white whale version you can see the entire sequence lit up at once, which to me makes it easier to edit. I could imagine getting used to the way it’s done on ansible if you don’t mind switching back and forth from the note view to the loop modifier view where you can see the entire pattern lit up at once.

No worries about the video thanks for taking the time to respond. It makes more sense now I can imagine all the switching back and forth different view can get a little cumbersome. As tempting as it is to pick up the gs I think im just going to patient and hold out for a VB grid.

I haven’t tried a non vary bright gird yet but I am pretty sure it would be an incredible unintuitive hassle to use with those newer applications. My impression is also that modern grids are pooping up used quite often. So it should not be that much of a problem to get on with just a little patience.

Just to update my experience with further use and other monome modules, besides WW…

I got myself an Ansible + Arc and shortly after got a second-hand Earthsea to mess around with on the non-vb grayscale grid I have. Let’s just say, it’s not very easy or fun to use Ansible’s Kria. And while Earthsea isn’t as bad, it loses a lot of functionality for visual feedback and I find myself lost constantly.

Kinda bummed about it, but I had a feeling it was a risk with the older grid. Now to decide what to do…I do want a variable brightness grid, but again, I refuse to give up my old baby and the further investment in another grid is impeding my excitement about it all.

Having used Kria on Ansible with a gs128 for a few weeks now, it can be confusing without the documentation in front of me. But I’ve since invested $25 in a Dymo labelmaker and just labeled the bottom row - makes it much easier and more manageable with a non-vb. Haven’t looked at Meadowphysics in depth yet, but assuming similar.
