Iā€™m getting a Walk. I need foot pedals. Do folks generally use the Yamaha FC5?

I think the M-Audio SP-1 has a polarity switch, which I think the FC5 lacks, but it looks like folks donā€™t generally like the responsiveness of the M-Audio as much as that of the FC5. I dug around a little. The Proline Standard Metal Sustain Pedal has a clear polarity switch on the rear, and the On Stage KSP20 has a switch, too, but neither of those have particularly positive reviews.

I just want to share my pain with you. Yesterday I added a Walk to my Escape From Noise cart but didnā€™t checkout, I planned to do it today. Now itā€™s out of stock :frowning:

I like the yamaha foot pedals and their flat black look. I would be too bothered by that loud FZONE logo. :rofl:

Thanks very much (and I agree about the logo thing). I think I psyched myself out by reading up too much and was concerned about polarity mismatch. I guess itā€™s with other hardware/software.

I usually have my Yamaha footswitches tabletop (for use with hands). This would be so much more sensible!

Lemme just say, a few hours into it, how much Iā€™m loving this Walk, and thatā€™s with just one sustain pedal so far (Yamaha FC5). Iā€™ve got it controlling the record of my Soundmachines UL1 microlooper, into which Iā€™ve plugged my electric guitar via an A-119, and the Walkā€™s XOR is separately telling a low sine wave on my Hikari to play or not based on the same trigger. This is super. Much to explore.

Iā€™m also very interested in a Walk. Iā€™m thinking of using it with Pressure Points and a precision adder to transpose and expand the PPā€™s four notes.

I also had an eye on the one at EFN but missed it due to my hesitation. Now they seem to be out of stock everywhere.

Sorry, that might have been me. I was afraid of missing it due to my hesitation too and then found a way to overcome the hesitation by purchasing a proper 3-way pedal for my piano action and needing something to recycle the simple pedal it came withā€¦:slight_smile:

Though I mostly use it as a button on the table by now. Also might need a second pedal for the full potential. Anyway the hesitation was not vindicated.

Iā€™ve got a Walk question. Iā€™m just getting the hang of using it in combination with my beloved lofi Soundmachines UL1uloop. I need to rerun some of my tests, but what Iā€™ve found is that whether I use the M(omentary) or (T)oggle outputs to trigger, say, the UL1uloopā€™s Rec(ord) function, it takes several steps after each successful trigger to re-trigger it. I wanna run a few more tests, but figured Iā€™d ask at this stage if anyone else has tried the combination. Itā€™s not a big deal. I can click a few times and reset it. It would just be smoother if doing so werenā€™t necessary. Right now Iā€™m using the UL1 to cull a bit of tone from my electric guitar, which is going into the UL1 via a few bands of spectrum from an ADDAC601 Filterbank, the original sound having entered the system via a Doepfer A-119 Ext In. Both of the pedals that came with my walk died in the last month and I was about to order some replacement ones but then I realized that I probably had the parts to build a dual foot switch into a tiny Hammond enclosure. Tada!
It was a satisfying build for multiple reasonsā€¦
Make use of my stash of random radio shack artifactsā€¦ saved me from buying more stuffā€¦ and most satisfyingly fed my regular pre-tour desires to miniaturize everything.

Iā€™ve done this (a couple of times) but always used normal ā€œstompā€ switchesā€¦ curious how those hold up, if you are using your feet to activate them and not your handsā€¦

Iā€™ve used them on other DIY projects before and they hold up fine. the only one that ever failed on me was because TSA repacked my pedal case in a way I can only describe as moronic (borderline evil).

I need to get some more clickless stomp switches at some point. I hate when the click can be heard over a microphone.
