The fact that they have killer line ups every year is a blessing and a curse… I want to go so badly, but I know by the time I can afford/have time to get over to the US in a couple of years they’ll still be putting on amazing speakers/acts/workshops.

I went to this the year it was in Asheville, and it was lots of fun (Kraftwerk, Pet Shop Boys, and so nice to meet the Make Noise folk). But this year if I was that side of the pond I would have gone to Sync02, or to DonFest (how cool is that going to be!!!)

Schedule is announced! Any thoughts on what the hot workshops will be?

Nice! I looked through quickly and the things immediately stuck out to me are Elysia Crampton’s & Marisa Anderson’s workshops. The CSound/Nebulae workshop. Some of the spatialization workshops.

I need to actually buy a ticket so that I can schedule attendance before these fill up…

I’ll be there Friday am through Sunday afternoon! Love to have a Monome-oriented meet-up/geekathon.

I’ll be there for the entirety of the event and would love to meet some of you folks. I’m terrible at coordinating people, though. As the event gets closer, we can take a head count and maybe designate a spot.

I’ll be there the entire time, as far as I know. Unfortunately I’ll likely be stuck at a booth for most of the time. But I’m definitely going to try my best to make it to some of the performances/talks.

I wonder if it would be useful to compile a list of Lines members that are vendors/supporters this year so folks can stop by and say hello. I can add a list to the top post for easy reference.

Good idea! I’ll be with Keith Mcmillen Instruments.

If we need some space, I can see if we can host a meetup in the Red Hat (Ansible) office (in American Tobacco right next to registration/modular marketplace/all that).

Also down for something less formal.

I wont be there but suggest you check these workshops on my behalf

Is anyone doing the Engineering workshop?

I ended up deciding against it.

Instead I’ve built up a set of nicer soldering tools than what I had and have done a few kits (L2A reamp box & god’s box humpack filter)…working on the Befaco Rampage right now.

So registration opens to the general public tomorrow - overall, I like how they are handling registration this year with the early registration periods and 10 workshop max. Anyone picked out their workshops yet?

Thanks for the heads up!

I’m signed up for “Feeling Abolition Through Nonlinear Timescales”, “Instrument Design: New ways to Play”, “3D Audio Space Jam”, “Chance and Conceptual Srategies”, “Making Sound and Music with Csound”, “Creative Recording of Solo Guitar”, “Deep Listening”, “Machine Learning and Music”, and “Perspective an Immersive VR Experience”.

Didn’t jump in fast enough to get in on the voltage controlled csound workshop, or the handmade analog computer workshop, but I think I’ll be attending a lot of things I’m excited about!

Attending some of these with my wife so really depends on if she gets moved up in the waitlist queue or not - chose some alternates just in case.

  • Loops + Beats
  • Deep Space Mind
  • Synthesis & Spirit
  • Dialog & Polyphony
  • Making Sounds From the Future
  • Deep Listening
  • [Alternative] Sacred Sound Bath

Waitlisted for:

  • Modular Synthesizers for Live Performance
  • Chance and Conceptual Strategies
  • Mobile Beatmaking and Multitracking

I’ll be attending and I’d love to meet up with other monomers. Thursday the 18th is probably the lightest day in terms of events. Maybe grab dinner together around 7PM? Perhaps a local can suggest somewhere that can accommodate a small crew?

My wife and I will be over there tonight. Last year, I believe Bull McCabe’s was suggested - there are also ample spots at the American Tobacco Campus (Tyler’s comes to mind) which will be near the modular marketplace and the Michael Stipe installation if anyone is interested.

Is this thread a good medium to post updates? If so, I invite others to post what they are doing from time to time.

I’m here all day. Currently heading to a Richard Devine conversation. Will be attending some of the VIP events too. What talent are y’all catching tonight?
