Any thoughts on any of the Morphagene systems a few months later? Some good ideas in here, what worked?

Necro bump! @Myles_Avery, how are you liking it? still have it assembled? Morphagene’s got under my skin lately and I’m not sure how much longer I can live without it

Funnily enough I actually moved on from morphagene to sound of thunder, and now I’m very curious about the nebulae. There was something about the morphagene that ultimately didn’t click with me. I think there are too many button combinations for different things, and ultimately I could never make it through the dense manual. I think having the module proved that I was really after a much more simple utilization of sampling in my system. Just my own experience though, I know a lot of folks really love it and more power to them for sticking with it and owning it.

Anyone gotten around to update their Morphagene to the new firmware just released? I’m on my way out for band practise but super stoked to dive into the new features - 1V/8 tracking for the varispeed should be beautiful!

phase modulation, updated gene windowing & the delay all sound really great. pleasant surprise out of nowhere (or, ā€œlet’s not lose people to the nebulae v2ā€).

This is really cool. One of my only annoyances on Morphagene was the inability to control varispeed via 1v/oct. Can’t wait to explore that!

I’m also really glad they went for a config file rather than a complex menu system as with Tempi.

Haven’t updated yet, currently listening to the update file. Sounds pretty good so far. :grinning:

Been playing around with it the last couple of hours, seriously so much fun! I find the 1V/oct a little hard to get just right though, any experiences with this? Still, it’s super fun to control the play input and the varispeed with both Kria and Earthsea!

I’m tremendously excited about being able to change the behaviour of the record button.

Yeah, great feature! Also happy to see a option for more immidiate splice shifts.

It’s an interesting path they’ve gone…being able to change defaults via a configuration file. Not sure there’s a precedent in other module designs. There’s obviously lots and lots of configurability in modules like O_C / TT…but this is an interesting approach for sure.

I haven’t upgraded yet, will do it this weekend. I’m pretty excited to try some of the new stuff. I think v/oct is going to be a big deal for me.

I’m very impressed with the update. LFO to phase modulation and gene ramp is allowing for some very cool tape loop effects. The ability to have splice’s start immediately on org/shift is great too.

Radio Music has a config.txt, much like this one.

Oh cool…thanks. I like the pattern.

Yep, I tried it myself last night and while it immediately yielded some great sounding stuff I couldn’t figure out where the pitch and varispeed knobs were supposed to be in order for it to track accurately. Where did you end up setting yours?

Same! I experimented a lot with this yesterday. The best results were if I set the attenuverter for the varispeed full CCW, but then the patterns obviously is bi-directional. I have to dive back into it today, it was a total blast with these new options. Any other cool discoveries?

holy yes i’m trying this as soon as I get home, is it just a regular vocal sample ?

Yeah, pretty much! A folk song with some vocals and harpsichord or something. Super cool sequencing stuff like this with Kria as well!

i was picturing that exact kind of sound for a song i’m working on and didn’t find a convicing result, i’ll have a go at it again

Best of luck! Hope to hear the result : - )
