Definitely been said a lot, but I feel so frustrated and I just want to vent a little… The Morphagene would be SO much better and useful if it simply had an input gain knob in addition to the dry wet, and some way of normalizing samples within! Bah!

Do you have a Pressure Points by any chance or another module with a gate output? I imagine you can use a gate into the SOS to toggle between fully open and closed. Caveat: I’ve not tried it myself, so don’t know the voltage range accepted by that knob.

Yep, this works!
I however also got some pretty good results recently by again trying to change the INOP variable to 1 on the settings, running the SOS all the way clockwise and feeding the output back into the input with an attenuator. If you get the settings just right with the attenuator and input gain on the Morphagene it works pretty well as a standard sound on sound looper.

I’ve just updated my morphagene to mg157 and bitterly regret it. They’ve added a 1/3 cut in playback volume for some reason and now sound on sound time lag accumulation really doesn’t work well at all and it seems impossible to get the balance between input and output to sound good. Does anyone have a copy of mg155 (or earlier) to hand, or know where to find it?

EDIT: found it in my old download folder! My advice: don’t upgrade!

Yup, I rolled back to mg155 also.

Sorry - new to the modular game. May I ask what they O_C module is?

Could you possibly upload/share?

Get it from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHR4mRV2sIM

Great catch, cheers!

Any chance I could grab that file from ya?

It’s Ornament and Crime—a multi-function module.

The comments on the YouTube video that @_mark links to above has it, thankfully!

I didn’t realize that they included a gain reduction! Will downgrade when I get a chance, low playback level has been something that has really bothered me about that module (and the lack of dedicated level knobs for input and loop…).

Thank you!

It’s really mysterious to me why they did this, as it essentially removes the possibility for proper time lag accumulation, which was a real feature of the module. Does anyone know?

Maybe @walker can shed some light on this one?

I’ve been using it to play live for a while now & like to pre record progressions and riffs from the rest of the live system & then slice those in a reel. During a live set it gets used as a pad of sorts with modulation that I can use the rest of the system to extend over the top of. I just turn the organise knob through the slices as needed for the changes. Using the same palette of sounds holds it all together tonally and lets the other live voices in the system go in other directions melodically & rhythmically with what the morph is doing in place. When I first started doing it I needed a little piece of paper that reminded of things like yellow = Am7, etc

If it’s a problem for you, I’d recommend downgrading to mg155b. We are working on an update that will include a reversion of this behavior anyway. The change was made because some people were experiencing distortion on the outputs, but after some time in the field we think the loss in TLA etc. is not worth it.

Any sense of the timing on the next update?

Thanks!

I’ll have to try out this firmware update, I have the other ones saved and can change back to one of them anyway if it doesn’t do it for me. I always hassle with attenuating the incoming signal (using an Airtenuator from RYO) before going into Morphagene. I never got the hang of the auto leveling procedure, it doesn’t work with nothing patched either. Got any tips?

I recently received my MG, and the auto leveling is the major flaw of this wonderful module.
I just can’t set a proper gain when playing Rings (green mode, 4 voices) through it. It’s always clipping after the procedure. I have to proceed the auto leveling with extra gain and then return to the proper gain value manually.
I’d love an option where you can just set a sensitivity. Then I’d do my attenuation manually.
