 @dangriffiths! is the new firmware the extended sequencer above?

On the right side of the stripe in the picture? Now I’m second guessing my eyes heh

oh! now that I made zoom to the picture I can see it! that is very small :open_mouth:
I could not see it just by looking into the module.

Yes! I am updating using the combined one from @qiemem as the harmonic oscillator mode is lovely

I’ll try out all firmwares to see which one is my favorite  thanks!

FWIW, I believe my firmware contains pretty much everything in the other firmwares, including the new extended sequencer, mode switching, etc. Also, in mode 1, it’s designed so that it should feel almost exactly like stock (but then the polarity control, freq range control, etc., are there if you want). The reasons you might not want to use my firmware:

  • Definitely more likely to be bugs in than in stock
  • If you just want all your LFOs to be slower by default and nothing else. While all LFO ranges are adjustable in mine, it takes a button combo (hold button + move slider) to do so. Mode 3 makes them slower by default, but it also has some advanced features like random segments.
  • There is some core behaviors I changed. In my opinion, they are strict improvements, but I could see some people disagreeing. This includes audio-rate and super LF-rate clocked LFOs and ramp end-value tracking. Also, enabling looping mode happens when you release the button instead of while the button is down to work with mode switching.

If you’re just starting out with Stages, I would definitely recommend either sticking with stock or mode 1 in my firmware.

I was amazed how quickly you integrated Émilie’s changes. Now the firmware is getting updated quicker than I can learn all the features. Thanks for all the work you’ve put into pulling everything together into a very usable package.

Just played with the harmonic oscillator in LFO mode. It’s amazing how easy it is to get complex related modulations. Best is that each output has built in attenuators.
Is it possible to sync/clock it with an external source (gate in) like the normal LFO’s ?

Glad you’re enjoying it!

The individual gates act as an LFO reset (as well as pinging the LFOs presence in the mix out), which can be used for some tempo-syncish purposes. Besides that, not really. I might consider making the first gate input a global sync, but that would make the LFO modes behave quite differently from audio-rate, and I’d like to keep them consistent if possible.

Thanks. Agree, I guess at this stage, it gets quite complex changing behaviors and features.
I am fine with using the second LFO as "sync"output and have stages as Masterclock.

:open_mouth: thank you so much for the info! :grinning:

yes, I’m just starting out with Stages, I think I’ll be sticking with stock firmware for now to get familiar with the module. but those futures sound amazing, so in the future I’ll be most definitely trying them out  thanks!

So much love for stages! It really is like a modular inside a module!

Are there any good video tutorials for @qiemem ‘s firmware? Tried searching but didn’t see

Not that I know of. A couple people have mentioned that they’d like to make some, but I don’t think anything’s been posted. I would love to, but don’t really have the time for anything of any quality and would just be recording on my phone… I’ll try to throw something together if I can.

Here’s an overview I found of @qiemem’s latest f/w:

Thanks to Peakae for the vid!

Wow, this is great! Thank you so much for covering this! Do you mind if I link to the video in the user guide? Also, you might consider posting this on the MW thread and the MI thread.

Oh I just found the vid; it was made by Peakae! I don’t know if they are a user on Lines. Sorry to mislead; I clarified above.

Ah! Thanks for clarifying. I’ll ask on youtube. Still, thanks for posting it  Wouldn’t have seen it otherwise!

After a few months I felt like I’d finally grasped the basics of the module, but I was kind of using it in the same couple ways. So last night I sat down and spent a few hours deeply focusing on Stages and trying out some more complex self-patching, plus lots of cross-patching with Marbles.

-I explored it as a sequential switch, S+H/bitcrusher, and pulse generator
-I further explored the idea I mentioned above re: patching ch1 as a decay envelope to “strum” the new quantized sequence mode
-I switched ch1 to a clocked LFO off of the same clock as the sequence, and then multed the sequence’s output to ch1’s time jack to modulate the time division of the LFO
-Pulling the clock out of ch1, switching it to square, and patching it as the sequence’s clock, I got a sequence that modulated its own clock speed in wonderful ways depending on the setting of the knobs.

This module is such a chameleon and I’m even more in love with it than I was before. Now I’m thinking about replacing my current slew, function generator, and ADSR modules with a second Stages. I’ve got such a small case that it actually would save a few HP while opening up the door for longer sequences.

Would you be able to post any videos demonstrating these techniques? Or point to any you are aware of?

I’ve gotten nowhere near this level of results from my Stages, and would love to!

I’d be happy to make a video! I’ll borrow a USB camera from work tomorrow and throw something together.
