can it act as host for USB MIDI devices?

Sadly, no, not as a host. It is a USB device only.

still a great update, thnx. There are not too many MIDI clock sources on the market

To be clear, this update makes Pulsar Buddy a consumer of MIDI clock.

The next update I hope to have it as a source of MIDI clock as well. That would allow uses like sync’ing to 1/16 note pulses from something - and spitting out MIDI clock over USB.

In all cases, though, the hardware really only supports it being a USB device, not a USB host.

as soon it will be a clock source it probably can be connected to USB MIDI to DIN MIDI converter like RK006 and send clock to a MIDI chain

When it’s syncing to usb midi clock it would be really cool if the clock in pin could be repurposed as a clock out. Is that do-able or a hardware limitation?

Sadly, the pins are unidirectional. However… next rev. (108) will allow you to turn one of the other pins into a 1/32 clock pin, which can then drive the Pulsar. If you give up, say, the beat output - turning it into the clock… you can then use the clock divider pins to get your beat back (though the P23’s clock dividers have no way to align to the one other than that manual reset button… but once aligned, it’ll be golden).
