I don’t think the step sequencer is new. The original Kastle had a “stepped voltage generator with random, 8 step and 16 step loop mode” but the steps were sourced from the random source.

@ryanruppe hi, so you just used those pins there? how hard it is to do this? I have Arduino Uno, so i will just buy board, some capacitators and its ready to go?

Sorry if this too stupid/obvious, but will it connect to eurorack, like clocking it from a eurorack?

Obviously one needs “some special cable” but thinking more about on the electrical level…

Honestly it’s so much easier with that ATtiny programmer, I can’t recommend it enough.

If you have a Kastle 1.5 with removable ATtiny chips, you Mount them in the programmer or on the breadboard, if you have the one with surface Mount chips, I can show you the connections you need to make with jumpers.

@ryanruppe so have you been able to upload the newest drum firmware to the kastle? and now your kastle works exactly like the bastle drum?

Pretty much, yeah! Kastledrum is essentially kastledrum firmware running on Kastle hardware. Yeah the labels of the patch ports have changed but it’s the same points, knobs, etc.

Hi! It’s so much easier with the sparkfun ATTiny programmer, but either way the connection points are the same.

Using jumpers (I used the ones that came with the Kastle!), bridge
Reset (1) to RES
Ground (4) to GND
5V (8) to +5V
Digital 2/Analog 1 SCK (7) to SCK
Digital 1 (PWM) MISO (6) to MISO
Digital 0 (PWM) MOSI (5) to MOSI

And then use the Arduino app to install the firmware. Kastledrum goes on the right, and Kastledrum_clk_lfo goes on the left.

just got my kastle drum and really like it, however my v1.5 kastle synth triangle LFO stopped working. Everything else works fine, pulse LFO, stepped, etc. Anyone had this happen before and have any suggestions to fix it?
