ah my bad @laborcamp

thought you were responding to my other post (subscription)

completely disregard me

Rest assured I’ll be in the 50% of folks who don’t get it at first. Then rest assured I’ll eventually buy one and love it.

Could it be ā€œJust Typeā€ for Just Friends? Or did I miss something earlier? (I believe it’s mentioned in the JF manual?)

Just Type always sounded like Teletype integration by firmware to me. And Teletype could be (rough estimate) 50% of JF users to have to ā€œbuy intoā€ā€¦

And I just checked: Just Friends has an I2C header on the back, identical to the one on Ansible.

Yup

now all we need is a new run of TT’s!

i hope that’s the case, because i finally have a new job (much of the fight for it was due to wanting monome + raps hardware) and have been a little bummed by the thought we might not see more of them.

So gratz on the new job
I really really did my best connecting with TT, it just wasnt for me, I guess…
But now I imagened a TT controlled JF, I start to get nervous having sold my Tele :fearful:

Edit: not sure why I cant get the reply to function to work on mobile…

I’m sure that bus board to connect modules to teletype that tehn has mentioned will be very useful for connecting just friends to the teletype…

To think, I was planning on picking up a Just Friends either this evening or tomorrow too; in fact, just finished reading the somewhat old JF thread here.

I’m seeing ā€œansibleā€ in those scripts too.

I feel so ignorant now.

looking at the code these are the new OPS:

JF: RMODE
JF: RUN
JF: SHIFT
JF: VTR
JF: MODE
JF: TICK
JF: VOX
JF: NOTE
JF: GOD```

So do you think this means new modes besides ā€˜run’ will be accessible in JF via Teletype?

VTR makes me think of video tape recorder.

I wonder if I should postpone my JF purchase until after this weekend and the unveiling…assuming it happens.

God mode for the win. Excited. Now we just need someway to connect all these together. Anyone want to make me a 6 header ii cable? Would that even work?

I had no inside knowledge, but IIRC @tehn had been talking about 3rd parties adding II support just before Just Friends was announced. I’m surprised no one else noticed (well apart from the one like the post received).

There is the edge connector too, above the II header. Maybe that will be used for firmware updates.

@tehn, I see you had no problems adding the ops with the new file layout, I hope it was all straightforward?

I believe there is a II bus board due soon

I’d happened to notice yesterday at the bottom of the JF manual, mention of a bootloader for software updates.

What is this II support you guys are talking about? On the back of the JF, I see both a six pin male connector, AND an edge connector.

it was a joy to add new ops. very straightforward and organized. thank you!

ironing out the details on this one.
