You might want to talk to @disquiet about joining disquietjunto.slack.com, which is where we tend to chat about it before and after. We seem to be falling into a pattern of jamming from about 10am-12pm Pacific Time on Saturdays at beepboop.fm port 2049.

Just listened to it while I was working - brilliant jam! You sould look to polish it up a little and release it. Seriously- I enjoyed it that much.

Really hope I get to join in on some of these over the summer, had so much fun last time.

Love Ninjam - been using it for live jams with my 2 brothers for a few years now. We have a monthly session on a Friday night. For some, it might take a little getting used to - but after a while you sort of just adjust to it. Good idea to disconnect and reconnect every so often - usually there’s a natural place to do that - it keeps the file sizes down if you later go on to ‘Reaper them’ and want to mix/remix. Great thread.

Thank you @pirxthepilot and @mzero for another fine NINJAM.

I didn’t think this was still happening. Like, here or in general. I thought NinJam had died. Glad to be wrong!

Will read up on this thread, try to get my own system into shape and find some jams to join.

We seem to be making a habit of it Sunday morning Pacific time. Beepboop.fm:2049

@cfd90 and @abalone were asking about recordings. I dropped the last year’s worth here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1MNqRgkNyxacseczV0cbejgxErVHxV0v0?usp=sharing

Each folder contains a nested set of folders of OGG files. At the top level there is a file called “clipsort.log”. If you open this file with Reaper, Reaper will consolidate all the tiny OGG files into a Reaper project with a WAV per track. Each track is labeled with the player’s username. Works very nicely!

We’re still getting together starting at 10am Pacific time each Sunday morning. point JamTaba or ReaNINJAM at beepboop.fm, port 2049

Thanks for the writeup and all the tips here, @jasonw22. We’re going to try this approach for the next community stream.

Just to bump this thread: a friend and I have belatedly started using jamtaba to jam remotely during the second round of covid lockdown over here in the U.K. and it’s been absolutely revelatory - really easy to set up, completely intuitive once you’ve got it running, and heaps of fun.

Definitely recommend giving it a go if you haven’t already!

Also - I was very keen to play around with the Live Set of In C linked to upthread, but having read the article on my phone yesterday, I’ve gone back with my laptop this evening to download the files, and the entire site seems to be down.

Any chance someone could re-upload the Live Set?

thanks for the reminder about this. i hadn’t fully tried it out except for a bit in Reaper where i was piping audio from bitwig into it. i’ve since changed my setup where i’m just piping audio from my mixer into a set of inputs on an extra audio interface i had. tried it out several days ago and it’s working out nicely.

zeppelinux over at the cockos forums built a x86 image with the ninjam-server and created a helm chart. i followed on what he was doing to apply a ninjam server to my lil’ k8s rpi cluster. you can find an arm image and k8s yaml below:

arm image for ninjam-server
yaml for k8s deployment

enjoy

edit: anyone know how recording works?

i know that @jasonw22 mentioned it working on the absence/presence of silence, but from my experience, it records based on who enters the server and then it records based on the interval value of SessionArchive set in the config where it’ll record / create a new subdirectory every “interval” minutes as per Cockos Incorporated | Server Setup Guide.

i played with it a bit last night using a 15min internval, and yah, it seemed to just record irrespective if there was silence or not.
