Hey friends,
I’ve had a few Monomes over the years. All of them have been the Walnut, non vari-light versions. I started on a 64, then went to the 128, and finally to the 256. (Who could resist more pads?!)
Since my Monome is an older version, at times I’ve had hassle getting the Max applications to work, for various reasons. Some are outdated, some depend on a particular serialOSC version, some don’t support the 256 grid… etc. Basically, a whole bunch of annoying technical things that I couldn’t be bothered fighting with when I wanted to make music. Because of that, I ended up mostly using the Grid with Mark Eats Sequencer, as it was the most reliable option.
Lately I’d been considering selling my Grid, as I was using Numerology and the Launchpad more for sequencing, but decided to give it another go. There are a few different Max applications which I couldn’t get to work before like Polygome which are really cool. However, what I’m really interested in is the support for the newer hardware options like the Eurorack modules and Norms… something which I just assumed wouldn’t work with the 256, non vari-light grid.
Could anybody give me a run-down of what bits of the newer hardware would work with my grid? I’m a bit lost as I’ve basically paid no attention to the development of all of these because I thought it wouldn’t be compatible. I have a full modular setup, so any way I can integrate the two in a different way which will be more sustainable than using legacy Max apps would be great.
Thanks in advance!
