Just a quick note of thanks. I just this evening, in less than 15 minutes I’d say, downloaded 2.0.0, installed, tested Awake, updated to 2.0.1, and did the same. Thanks to everyone who makes this so great, and by this I mean Norns and Lines and everything in between.

So that worked and got me to the next stage and now I’m getting this error: 32%20PM

The only file on the usb is: norns190405.tgz

Does it matter which USB port?

Thanks @Justmat!

Some things to check:

  1. the USB drive you’re using must be FAT32 formatted and not NTFS, ExFAT or EXT4

  2. try ls /media/usb to see if you see the update file on the drive

the usb port you use should not matter.

Updated to 190422 and now none of the scripts will run. They all hang and I get a loading… screen.
In the home screen next to the script name it says (error: AUDIO ENGINE)

I tried system reset, turning off and on and that did not help.
System update says the system is up to date.
Key 2 in the home page shows system 190422

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

try running a script while watching the output from maiden (lower right, select “sc”). you probably have a duplicate engine, maiden will identify the culprit.

@Ars10 Happened to me yesterday. As Alessandro pointed out, it’s likely a duplicate engine. The Help section of the Norns docs got me back up and running in about a minute.

One of the things I love about the Timber script is the ability to utilize built-in LFOs for modulation of specific parameters. Which got me thinking…how feasible would it be to have a modulation layer that any script could use? Maybe something like 3 LFOs with variable waveshapes (just like in Timber) that one could use to, say, modulate the panning of voices in Cranes, of the amplitude of a track in MLR.

I’ve started working on something like this, because I needed it in one my Norns projects, but as it stands it still needs people to add a little bit of code to whatever engine they’re using.

The cool part is Supercollider has all kinds of modulators well beyond typical LFOs - Brownian motion, Lorenz attractors etc.

Thanks for the advice. Apologies for not looking at the help first. First time connecting with maiden. I am on windows and was able to connect, but when I tried to click on sc in the repl the maiden screen just goes blank. I tried this several times and anything I touch in Maiden or if I try to run a script in Norns the maiden screen goes blank. I decided to just try and delete scripts and when I deleted FM7 everything was back to normal. What am I doing wrong in Maiden? And how would I go about getting FM7 reinstalled without causing the same issue?

I had this same issue — there was a duplicate engine in FM7 and We folders. Newest update of We removes it https://github.com/monome/we so it doesn’t conflict with FM7

Out of curiosity which browser are you using? After the maiden window goes blank are there any errors in your browser’s javascript console?

Thanks! So my USB key was ExFat and once formatted to FAT32 got me through to the next stage and now I’m hung up oh so close…

I was able to access the USB key from my Mac and unpack the files and see them but now I’m stuck. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

you forgot to unpack the second time. now:
tar xzvf 190405.tgz
only then you cd in the folder.

I’m having the exact issue @xeric described. Have you found a solution? I’m on a Netgear N300.

I’ve been able to solve it using the answer that has been provided to @xeric:

Haven’t had a chance to try yet - will let you know when I do

Dang - I did not read this thread before I tried to update, I went to https://monome.org/docs/norns/update/ where I read that I should download the latest version.

./update.sh didn’t seem like it did anything, but I shut it down anyway and after restarting, the select menu is empty and I can only see none as a wifi connect option, so I can’t connect to try the 2.0.0 version (I don’t have a thumb drive… seeming like I might have to get one…)

any advice?
