Is it possible for me to download the Norns image and then flash to my cm3+ Offline. I just moved and don’t have my internet set up yet. I might be able to tether off my phone but would rather try to download the image off a better connection.

yes. just download the image, store it for later, then use etcher.

Which image should I be getting? Can I go directly to the most recent Norns update?

Also can anyone point me to where I can get the img file? I need to store it for offline use to update my Norns to cm3+

Ok so I posted in help but maybe I can ask here. The initial installation went smooth and Norns was up and running. I updated Norns to the most recent OS and ssh’d my backup of the dust folder but now I am getting an error that says

error: SUPERCOLLIDER FAIL

I am not able to load any scripts, Norns just hangs on loading…

When i open up maiden it won’t give me any info on the SC tab. It says SC disconnected or not connected. Should I just run the process over again and reflash?

Just wanted to give a shout out to @mutedial — the installation guide got me up and running, first-try, in about 45 minutes last night :bowing_man:

I also experienced the SUPERCOLLIDER FAIL error at the very end, but a simple RESET (via the menu) cleared things up.

funny this thread popped up today, as my CM3+ showed up. hope to try upgrading tonight.

finally tried to swap this out tonight. everything seemed to work. etcher deemed it a success, but my Norns won’t power on. The light on the back stays on as long as I hold in the power up button, but when I release it, it just turns off. I tried to reflash, but now my when I plug it into my computer I get ‘Failed to claim interface’ in rpiboot and a USB error from Windows. Anyone have any suggestions?

edit: tried a couple different USB ports and managed to reflash it in etcher, but the norns still won’t power on after it’s finished.

ensure the internal switch is back on RUN mode.

when in doubt, switch back to the original CM3, and don’t hesitate to reflash the CM3+. many issues come down to a bad download of the image.

Got it up and running with a fresh flash. Got the disk expanded. But can’t shake a Supercollider Fail… just reflash again?

prob just reboot. But you could do a search on the norns help thread for other things to try for the supercollider fail error.

rebooted about 10 times. reflashed 4 times, downloaded the image 2 times. tried updating both automatically, and manually. will have to slog through the help thread to see if there’s any other suggestions.

One suggestion you’ll see a lot in that thread is to log in to your Norns using ssh or screen and try to run sclang. It will probably fail to start, but the output may provide a hint or two about what’s going wrong.

looks like your soundcard is not working or jack isn’t running

Undid all the screws and rebooted it and now it works. Is there a chance something is under tension from the internal screws? Or is it just being weird?

Edit… Uh oh. Just put it back together and rebooted and got the error. Opened it back up and it’s fine again. Some screw is causing an issue. Maybe I should reflow the jacks before closing it back up?
