If you think the regular antenna looks silly, you’ll love this :sweat_smile:

I was really hoping the wifi nub was shaped like an actual Panda :panda_face:

If there are two Norns in the same house how are things handled when going to norns.local to access maiden?

Gotta use the IP address for one.

Or… if you have a DIY, you can change the hostname using raspi-config

Hello All,

I am having a hard time getting Norns to sync with and external midi clock via USB.

I have tried with a Beatstep Pro and Yamaha Reface DX. I can send clock from Norns to both devices no problem in scripts like Awake and Meadowphysics but as soon as I change the clock from internal to external I get no action.

I’m not sure why it is not functioning? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hey! in the devices > midi menu, which slot has your external clock source? norns defaults to slot 1 external clock unless the script is modified to allow switching.

Edit: I am using the script Strum/Strum_KR right now and it is running/accepting clock from the Beatstep Pro. There seems to be some issue with the Awake and Meadowphysics scripts not accepting external clock though.

Edit#2: Here is what I get in Maiden when switching to external clock in the parameters of Awake_Rings

lua:

/home/we/norns/lua/lib/beatclock.lua:115: attempt to call a nil value (field ‘on_select_external’)

Hi Dan,

Yes I do have the beatstep pro listed in slot one in the midi menu currently. I have switched the Yamaha to slot one with no change in Norns behavior as well. I have tried sleeping and resetting Norns with no change. Running the newest Norns system and scripts.

ah, yep! just took a peek at the awake (non-rings) code and line 222 seems to reference a function that no longer exists:

clk.on_select_external = reset_pattern

@tehn, should this callback point to something else?

That’s probably my fault, I’ll take a look later today

not your fault, there are some known awake ext sync issues.

we are working on a global clock system which will supercede a bunch of this, but I will patch it up in the meantime

Thanks @tehn. Norns is such a pleasure to play on.

Edit: Used Cyberduck and that worked well.

On a separate issue is getting a stronger wireless nub/dongle the way to improve connecting to the Norns network? Sometimes it connects right away and other times it just sits.

i can’t be the only person to get this issue…but…the only instance i can find when i searched the forum was my reference to it in the MANGL thread.

so…
how do i fix this error i keep getting on one of my norns that pops up in maiden:
warning: norns.poll callback couldn’t find poll

it also hangs the browser so i can’t tell it to ;restart or go to the SC tab.
the norns display also displays the Supercollider Fail error and norns also freezes.
the knobs and buttons will not work.

thank you for any help!
:slight_smile:

Yes 100% the Panda Wireless PAU06 works perfect and always delivers a solid connection.

I’m trying to connect a keystep and it is not being recognized as a midi device.

Has anyone else had this issue??

EDIT:
The issue was a bad cable…

I just did a big “test all the micro usb cables” thing and stuffed them into separate “data” and “charge” ziplocks.

yeah, this might be the kick in the arse I need to organize my scattering of cables :stuck_out_tongue:

no loading apps no reset he remain freeze when i try to do
please help me asap to performe some factory reset
thx

Hi @Pri

I moved your question here since it seems to be a general question about resetting your device…

What have you tried?

first time in lua, just wanted to “get my feet wet” so i decided to try to draw incoming midi on the display

m = midi.connect()
m.event = function(data) tab.print(data) end

function redraw()
    screen.clear()
    screen.move(0,40)
    screen.level(10)
    screen.text(tostring(?))
    screen.update()
end

tried without tostring, and tried “data” “m” “m.event” where the question mark is, and yeah, i dont know what im doing :stuck_out_tongue:
