it’s not high on the priority list, but i’ll see if i can sneak it in

I can’t acces http://norns.local/doc although i’m connected to the same network as my computer. The link automatically redirect me here:

Am i missing something?

ping norns.local and be sure it’s there? If so try via the ip address you get from the ping?

Can’t find the host :no_mouth:

I tried with both hotspot and network connection.

your IP address gets shown in SYSTEM > WIFI. type it in manually. unfortunately the zeroconf (norns.local) can be unpredictable in its propagation time.

Ok i managed to access documentation page like this:

“myIPadress”/doc/

Doing the first study
when I run script
I get file not found: /home/we/dust/scripts/study/study1.lua
any suggestions on how to get this right
Thanks

This happens to me sometimes as well, especially when/if I change the name of a .lua file. Typically, a hard refresh of the browser window gets things back in working order…

Yes that fixed it thanks

By chance do you remember if this occurred after renaming one of the folders - intentionally or accidentally?

Hmm…I don’t remember this being correlated to the renaming (intentional or otherwise) of a folder, no. It happens, IIRC, when I create a .lua file and then re-name it during the same Maiden session. Hard refreshing always fixes the issue.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a bug. I’ve opened a ticket on GH for this:

(1) I feel stupid to ask this, but: is it possible to open the maiden editor if I connect norns via its USB power cable to my computer? If yes, how do I do this?

(2) Still on norns 180603:
• norns froze shortly after successful connection to my WPA2 network (I got the dB network strength readout, but then norns no longer reacted to any action)

The USB connection for power will double as a serial port which allows one into the device from a terminal emulator but it does not provide a full network connection. To use maiden one has to connect via wifi (either in hotspot mode of router mode).

This is most likely the known problem with connection to wifi after the device has been off for awhile. Norns does not have a internal clock, when it gets a network connection it tries to sync its clock. The large jump in time causes supercollider to freak out. If you give it some time it will usually come back (in a minute or two). If it doesn’t reset/reboot from the bottom on the bottom of the case and try again a second time- the second and subsequent times things usually work.

We’re activity trying to improve things in the area.

Thanks much for your answer. So can I connect norns to my computer just for power (i.e. not using a terminal emulator), while being connected via wifi to use maiden?

Yes, I can confirm that this works.

Thanks!

Originally I had hoped to run maiden without wifi in order to save battery life on both norns and my computer, but if I can feed norns with my computer’s battery, I can at least prolong norns’s battery life.

can you not configure g_ether to provide usb networking via the device port?
… would seem useful for those not wanting to use wifi.
(or even multi gadget support, to also provide midi device)

even though ive wifi sticks, I actually prefer using usb networking on bela a lot of the time.

no. the raspberry pi (and CM3) only have one USB port, connected to a hub. so it’s either in device or host mode (basically always in host mode). norns has an FTDI uart-usb chip connected to the main uart so you can screen in.

you could use a usb-ethernet adapter (ie, like the one from apple) but then you’re in network-jack land

I have this same issue I believe, and can’t for the life of me get Norns back to ‘normal’. This somewhat distorted output is present at headphone and line outs. I also can’t really discern how to truly reset. The button underneath seems to restart or reboot, but after restarting everything is back as it was, all settings remain etc.
Also this state of aliased/distorted outputs existed before the latest update which I applied and did not affect the sound.
Is there a special key press combo i’m missing to hard reset or do I need to try something else? Thanks.
