Recently have been introduced to the monome community through a YouTube rabbit hole and some of the beautiful Norns demos floating around.
Found it to be full of magic. Just like the octatrack.
I make mostly ambient and experimental “hip hop” stuff. Wondering if Norns could cover some of the same ground an octatrack could.
I’ve owned an octatrack before and I’m pretty familiar with it. I ended up selling it to fund my first modular rig (morphogene/1010bitbox) and miss it quite a bit and will be investing in either a Norns or OT real soon.
I didn’t like the lack of immediacy on the OT and want something that could chop samples pretty quickly. I’m curious if Norns can allow u to chop samples quickly and how precise can it get with start and end points.
I have a digitakt I could use as a midi controller(hopefully) but eventually would like to get grids. Maybe even selling the digitakt.
Drifting more towards Norns because it seems to be pretty intuitive and I love the form factor and portability but am I expecting too much from it if I intend on using it to chop records in the same vein as say a dilla or madlib beat?
