Maybe then the name of the app should just be the name of the folder it is in? Just so we can see a single name of the app when browsing on Norns, instead of the path style naming.

if you can spare the time to do this i’d really be grateful @tehn

almost bought one months ago but figured it should be possible with norns in some way…just hadn’t done it myself

hit me up via dm (or github?) if you wanna work on it together somehow

seems like we get most of the way there with a short delay and minor rate modulation. but i’d be interested in a more in-depth analysis if you’d like to look at it deeper?

looking back yeah
you are right

the feel comes from how the range of controls are tuned

gonna make some notes and think about it more though

I have this pedal, it’s amazing. The ā€œmainā€ controls are really special in tandem – the randomly shifting delay (ā€œk-field modulatorā€) can really go to 11, almost in an annoying way, and can be dialed back to taste. The Env-LPG is also really magical – the attack is kind of slow and is not adjustable to but it feels really natural. Of course one could parameterize it in Norns, but the default time (maybe 50ms?) on the attack feels reeeaaally good.
I want to add that something they don’t really show on the videos is that overdriving this pedal is absolutely stunning. It’s a magical distortion machine. So maybe some sort of gentle waveshaper at the front, too? I’d be happy to help dev, which could include engine work as well as A/Bing with my pedal, and/or making recordings and vids for dev purposes…

I really like that tape now loops whatever is loaded until you stop it. A couple ideas: is this behavior something that could be turned on/off in a params setting? Could playback speed be something that could be set as well? I’m not saying variable speed that could be actively sped up and slowed down like reels, rather something simpler like a set half/full/double setting?

Man that would be amazing! Shallow Waters is one of those pedals I still wish I would have kept.

Sorry if this exists already, but is there some Norns device that does synced/quantized sampling Ć  la Octatrack/Blackbox? It suddenly dawned on me that it’s probably very doable on Norns, which would be downright amazing.

Thanks!

Hey, nice to see you around here, too :handshake:been asking for the same thing.

Timber by @markeats does the playback part but no recording. Don’t know any script that does quantized recording that way, and have been looking for the very same thing.

Midi trigs would be sufficient, with defined end points. I’d feel blessed if it showed up and can’t code it myself (yet  )

ah! i just built quantized 1-shot recording and quick-bpm-based-slicing into cheat codes this week — will have it released this weekend with an edit of the livestream walkthrough

hey!

I’m very new too Monome. I have a norns and a grid. I’m reading about all the different apps trying to find out if it’s possible to transform the norns into a nice groovebox where I can sequence some drums and some synths on the norns with the grid. I installed Orac but that doesn’t have grid support.
Is there such an app? Or does anyone have a suggestion on how to achieve this?

Thanks a lot!

Sounds like Takt might scratch that itch. Also check out FoulPlay.

Thanks a lot! Will check it out. I read about takt but didn’t understand if there was internal sounds?

takt is a sample sequencer inspired by the elektron digitakt.

it can load up sounds from internal storage, sample audio from the norns inputs & sequence external midi instruments via usb.

Ah ok. Got it. Takt. Digitakt  thanks!

I have dreams of a Digitone equivalent of Takt, with an internal synth engine instead of being sample based. Maybe one day I’ll build it, but it seems like a pretty large undertaking so hopefully someone beats me to it

You can do it man!

Take a stab at outlining the design! It’s an all-too-often missed step of the process and almost required at some point if you want collaborators.

I was just thinking the same love this idea!

Good idea! I’m not quite ready to jump into a big coding project at the moment (been wanting to spend more time playing with the many wonderful things others have built recently), but will definitely keep this in mind when the time comes.
